well i beat his g-st by a cars lenght with my crown vic but that was two years ago.

now he has a rebuilt engine with forged internals , g16 turbo from an evo, injen intake and bunch of other mods. pushing 22lbs of boost.

i got , 10% pully, manifold back exhaust, no air silencer and a ic fan. pushing 15lbs of boost:rolleyes:.

he just called me and said he dynoed it today, 420 fwhp and 350 fwt :eek:

he raced my other friends stock 350z with a 150 shot and got beat by 3 cars.

the 350z ran a 8.5 in the 1/8 with the 150 shot..

i know i would get beat most likely but how bad ??

btw we have access to a closed flat road with no traffic .. so no street racing :D

i'd say you'd get it handed to you, and by at least 5 lengths. you're probably around 220 hp with current mods. for reals. i'd just let all teh air out of his front tires ;)

Just b/c there's no traffic doesnt mean it's not street racing. If its not at a track, its street racing. :D

The power to weight ratio is WAY in the eclipse's favor. The deciding factor is going to be weather he can control 400+ hp. You'll get him off the line, im sure, but once he spools up, he'll be gone, if his engine doesn't grenade. :eek: :)

somewhere around 3800, plus the driver. Plus he's got at least 150 hp extra.

Eclipse - 400 hp and 3400 pounds = 8.5 pounds per horsepower

SC - 220 hp and 3800 pounds = 17.2 pounds per horsepower

These are just estimates that dont account for driver weight or skill. But you get the idea. You have better torque w/ the M90, but he'll have the hp to fly by when the turbos spool up.

He sounds like a bs'er to me. If he has that much power, he definitely wont get any traction at all through first or second if its a manual so you will be able to beat him until he gets traction. Either way, take him on and see what happens.

If you want easy high 13's, get a tune, 100 shot of nitrous, and a set of slicks.

If he does smoke you, you can always claim that you let off the gas after he wasn't catching you through the end of second and you can claim that he gave you a ricer fly-by.

8.5 in the 1/8 mile is probably low 13s/high 12s. If your pal in the Eclipse got beat by 3 car lengths then he probably has a high to mid 13 second car. For the mods you listed, I'm betting your car runs mid 15s.

Conclusion: The Eclipse is going to win by a large margin.

The eclipse will be very traction limited. I even beat a 98 GS-T in my F150, because I was planted, laying down all of my proven 15.75's while she was going up in smoke. That was just a stock GS-T with T-2small turbo....can't even imagine how insane it is to hook up one with 420FWHP. From a roll, I bet that car is a blast.

Low 14's? With slicks a stock GST will probably go 14's. 250FWHP is enough to put a GST FIRMLY into the 13's. If this guy hooks up its like 11's man.

my damn car is a beast , if i tell you i beat him you guys wont believe me so i got a video a crappy cell phone video that i will try to upload here atleast it shows his headlights disappear.

went over today showed me his motor and all that , really nice !! new crankshaft , pistons , h beams, completely rebuilt, $5000 in mods but no tune.

he took me for a ride his turbo kicks in at 30mph but when it does that thing is a beast !! and sounds crazy with that blow off valve he also knows how to launch and shift good !.

we did three runs .

1st run .. 3..2...1 i floor it my car starts to tilt the rear and he gets in front , quickly i jump on him by two cars but then his turbo kicks in and takes me by one car , we leave off at 100.this was his expression :eek: i have no video for this run.

2nd run , line up again 3..2..1 my car launched like a beast he never caught up you could hear my sc whine and see his headlights disappear.got him by like 1 car. i got a video for this run , left off around 100 again. this were his expressions now :eek::o

3rd run, 3...2 he left.. 1 he left early and i think he got me by one car..

i must have a factory freak or the previous owner did some engine mods :eek::D

so happy right now !

I dont doubt that you won, but i do doubt that his car has anywhere near 400 hp. 22psi of boost does no good if it's just backed up boost. Meaning he threw a huge turbo at it, but the motor isnt breathing much better... I'd like to see the video (not for proof, but b/c i think itd be cool) i'd also like to see a dyno sheet on that mitsu. :)

lol, ya i doubt hes pushing more than 400 to the wheels it did feel alot faster than my tbird when i rode with him though , it really moves and sounds like a beast..

i forgot to ask him to show me proof of dyno. i just wish i could get his facial expression on video though..

btw i made a mistake on saying that he lost by 3 cars to the 350z with the 150 shot, that was what i understood over the phone.. it wasnt a 350 but instead 1998 twin turbo supra with mild mods, i have a friend who was a witness

Most cars feel faster than ours when your riding in them I don't know why but you can ride in a 12 second SC and then a 14 or 15 second pratically anything else and the non SC car will usually feel faster.

It's the size. Same reason I believe that we find ourselves going faster than we think we are when driving our SCs. For example, my girlfriend at the time had never gotten a ticket in 15 years of driving. She normally drives/drove a Civic. She borrowed my car one day and got a ticket for speeding.

EVO III 16g turbo making 420fwhp @ 22psi?? Hes a liar.. The car either A.) Has a much bigger turbo than that (read: GT30R series at minimum to make that kind of HP at 22psi on pump gas) or B.) Its only making 330ish fwhp..

Either way the car is a tractionless wonder at the kind of power on street tires.. Its very easy to see why you would be able to beat him from a standstill.. Try him from a 50mph roll you most likely wont even come close..

My stang feels like a rocket compared to the sc... Cant wait till the weekend so i can finish my PI swap.. wheee.... It would tear the SC up from a dead stop like it was but the SC was alot faster from 60mph or so... I imagine another 20 ponies or so and it will have some top-end pull that it lacked..

the gst is a 5sp and has a stage 2 clutch..

he beat my 01 vic with his 93 z28 camaro by 2 cars.. when i raced the gst the vic was stock , 3.27 gears track lock, maybe if you raced a -2000 vic it was a 16 second car but not an 01 which has the pi heads.

Give the Vic a little more credit than that, if my stock 150k 02 P71 will run 16.3s in 6850' density altitudes (corrects to 14.96 at zero DA)... they're capable of a little better than 16s.

My Vic was a 97, not PI, but only 5-10 less HP than your 01 and about 400-500 pounds lighter and ran a best of 16.1@86 (only ran that time once, every other run was a 16.3-16.5) (gotta love the stripped down Aero Vics).

lol man your times are wayy off. you should really check out crownvic.net and browse through the forums, the 250hp models are also heavier than the 01-02 .. stock 04's have ran 15.2 , stock 01-02 have ran 15.4 15.5.

if you got duals on your 97 then your sitting in 210 hp if not 190 and with those weak 2.73 any 01-02 will smoke you :rolleyes:..

I have actually been tinkering with thought of looking for an SC for a toy once I find me a nice Caprice with low miles, LT1 and the B4U package to drive everysay. My 96 Caprice was my favorite car ever LOL. I have always wanted a black on black 93 SC and my first 2 cars were T-Birds (91 base and 93 5.0) and always loved their handling. I love eaton SCed 3.8s too, nothing like the sound of an M90 with a cold air kit :D I liked my GTP and it was no doubt easier to get in the 13s than an SC would be, but FWD and tons of torque just grew old pretty quick, so i am going back to my roots and the cars that make me smile :D.

LOL, was my thought when I drove one and the worst part is when I got back in my 96 Roadmaster i had at the time afterwards and it was definatly quicker than the Mararuader at basically any speed (Marauder MAY have had a small advantage up top, is supposed to anyways, but certainly did not seem like it). I did love the steering feel on the Marauder though, but I hear handling and feel changes from car to car thanks to shotty quality control on them (all i know is the one I drove felt solid). And yes, Trilogy Marauders are very sweet, but seeing an Impala SS running 12.1 on motor (bored to 357, heads/cam etc) running on radials just kept me in the LT1 camp. Not to mention I could never match the gas mileage my LT1s got (24 average on the Capric, 26 on the Roadmaster) even with the SOHC motors (CVPI averaged 20, as did my parents 94 Grand Marquis).

I kind of like the 01+ Vics, and I know with the plethora of aftermarket available for the SOHC, there is really no way I could justify a MM. For what it's worth, I could feel the 32v motor at work when I stood on the car at 70mph, but that's not enough to justify the price. Especially when the thing was rumored to have a supercharged option out of the box. And what showed up really couldn't have been more opposite.

They are getting there pretty quick, saw a higher milage one for sell on the net a few months ago for under 10k :D Still gonna go for a low mile B4U Caprice for around 6k though :D One thing about the Marauders though, slap an SC on there and it finds it's own.
