FX90 Gas Turbine project

What do you think of getting a project like this going? putting a Gas Turbine engine into a 90 SC. I think to have a one of a kind SC with Turbine would be a great idea your thoughts? The picture below showing the size of it lots of mods will need to be done to fit it in. We are talking with a salt flat racer that may part with one Turbine engine at a fair price cross our fingers

I think it would make a lousy powerplant for anything except salt flat type high speed racing.

Yeah, a turbine engine doesn’t like to change speeds their made for constant power not stop and go driving. That's the reason that Chrysler never made it. I'm not even sure if a single turbine (one that would fit under the hood) would do very much at the strip. I'd rather see an electric, bio-diesel, or ethanol powered SC running 11's.

Salt Flat speed record is what we where going towards with the Aero effects of the SC body. We dont have the funds to build a high tech streamlinner with two Turbines so we have this idea rolling around. We want to go fast and the tought of building a Turbine SC is neat in itself

We got ideas and we think to build one with the SC would be a neat deal in itself I always like the Turbines

Gas Turbines are pretty neat. I was involved in some of the testing of them for the Army's M1 tank and large generators used to control the launching of tactical missiles. Very compact and high out put, but not too swift on fuel consumption. :)

Your Right

Gas Turbines are neat we been going through this idea now for months for the Salt Flats or dry lakes Turbine is the way to go. We want to be differaint yes you can take a Blown big block run quick and fast but to beat the record we are are after its going to take a turbine to do it. Plus the fact Ford never built a Turbine powerd car makes it special

Baca has a friend that was into landspeed years ago with a twin turbine streamlinner he still has 5 complete turbines. We want to buy one plus extra parts to do what we want with backup repair parts. My team is tired of drag racing they want to go fast set records. I think to build this with a 90 SC aero body would make it special to the SCer's as well


The other idea is using a 2006 Mustang body but with me being with the SC for so long its hard to change over to a differaint body style. I am just shooting this out to see how you all feel about it. We ran 9.989et to gain the record with the Silver Bullet fastest SC record after that now we are bored. We have gone quicker and faster but until someone beats the 9.989et mark there is no reason to post the new times. This Turbine project is fun challenging and differaint plus going fast for a new all out record is a blast
