All that and he can still see the valve covers. Might actually be worse than an SC to change plugs.

#1. This is old news. Moran and Meaney built that engine back around mid 2001, IIRC.
#2. It's a GM DRCE-based turbo engine. It is NOT a Diesel truck engine.
#3. It is/was used in Moran's drag car, not in "big rig racing rodeos".

No use saying anymore..... Pap knows it all
There's only 3 or 4 folks in sccoa that know anything and everyone else is a bunch of morons as was stated in another thread..... What its beginning to look like is those 3 or 4 are now on a mission to shut SCCOA down just because people don't see things their way. They have succesfully managed to take over SCCOA at this point because they have everyone's attention.
Personally, I'm moving on because this place use to have good stuff in it and you could get to it quickly, but now you have to spend more time weeding through 90% of the posted garbage to get anything meaningful... and its ironic that the 3 or 4 that are ruining everything haven't done anything to help anyone except mock them.
A good thing gone bad because of a selfish few :(

I remember reading about this whenever I was in middle school. It was an article in Popular Hot Rodding.
You're right about all the above. Definitely a neat build.
P.S. Those were the old Pro Stock motors, minus the turbos. They made 1300hp NA

hmm looks like a detroit diesel to me too guess it could be a race only engine
ive never been to knowlegable about olds engines .
other than a w30 i had in a hurst olds ive never owned a olds it was a short ownership
I traded it to a guy for a 10 sec v8 vega back in the 80's could kick my own arse now they are worth gold
anyway does look like diesel but like i said i dont really know olds race engines very well

Like Rod said, it's a GM DRCE race motor.
It's a 442 cubic inch motor, not a Olds 442 motor. A W30 came standard with a 455 in it, BTW. "442" meant "4" barrel carburetor, "4" speed transmission, and "2" for dual exhaust.
