Hey everyone,

I recently purchased shocks and struts from SuspensionMax a few days ago, and last night I recieved an email stating that the shocks/struts will no longer be available... They still sell the lowering springs though.

So, I did some more browsing and came across the KYB GR-2 shocks/struts, which were some what in the same price-range. While I was doing my search I ran into a little problem. There were multiple sites that offered the same shock, but had two different prices. The one with the greater price was of course for the SC, but my question is, does it really matter? I am assuming it does, but how/why?

Important Question: I've already purchased a set, but the site I got them from only offered one set. I wrote down the part numbers and I was hoping someone could confirm that they are the right ones for my car.

The Site- PerformanceCenter.com
Front Strut- (part-#) 231015
Rear Shock- (part-#) 344110

Thanks alot guys,
Dave

I'm pretty sure that's the part numbers of the ones I bought. I went back to the site I bought them from & double checked... it asked which model T-Bird, LX or SC, but it didn't matter which I clicked on, both links showed the same parts numbers regarless of clicking LX or SC.

Sometimes they will try to get ya a bit more on the SC specific stuff...But its the same as far as I know. Sorry to hear about the SM shocks/struts..I was so happy they were made in America and all!

what years did the S/Cs have the ARC system on them. or is this just bypassing(not using) it? I'm sure the valving for the shocks are different for the LX compared to the SCs, but that's replacement, not aftermarket.

89-95 had the ARC and I believe there may have been different valving throughout the years.

The biggest problem is having something that will react well when you lower your car.

i am definitely leaning to-wards lowering my car in the next couple of months, along with the 1&1/4" sway bars at both ends. my stock ARC shocks still work like new, but will lowering the car 1" make them wear out any faster? or will they be fine? also, is there an adjustable end-link for lowered cars not at 1&1/2"s? or is there solid end-links for 1" drop, 1&1/2" drop and 2"s also?

When in doubt, go to the original source:

Looks like you have the only part numbers offered for 89 - 97 T-Bird / Cougar.
