Seriously, the deal is that your software platform is no longer supported. You'll have to upgrade to version 3.0 which uses a USB key to unlock the software (and costs a few $$). SCT does not support the Racer packages, they are supported by the dealers only.

Someone had mentioned a key to me. Seems I will have to get incontact eventually. Even if they no longer support the racer setup I have an individual liscence that I have bought and at the very least they owe me that. Btw I bought this long before you were a dealer Dave. Purchased from Brian when he worked there...... when it first came out.
And tom I will make sure to get your great advice before I do anything to my sc from now on. Especially when it comes to selling my used parts ;+)

Actually, I was a dealer back then. I've been a dealer since Brian went to work with SCT and before the racer package was released. I actually had my dealership before he left Apten. ;) It's a shame you didn't use that package though because you will have to upgrade if you want to use it. They won't give out keys to the old software anymore, license or no license.

I did use the software many times in the past. I just reinstalled it on my new computer. Thats when the issue came up. It gives you a new number everytime you reinstall it and I would always send an email to sct and they would send me the new key to unlock. If they have decieded to not support this anymore and thier own software has locked me out of using it thats just wrong. Its not even like I want or need a software upgrade. B enice to use just what I have. If this is the case they will surely be getting a nice letter or two from my lawyer. Thats all I can say. I would totally be on a mission about this as its just plain wrong.
On the other hand I never knew you were an SCT dealer back then. Brian got me a better deal however then my buddies that were dealers so that why I bought from him regardless.
This is really going to get me going if they dont do the right thing. Guess I have nothing more to say on the subject unless someone has experienced something recently that has resolved this issue. Then there is always the master Greek programmer as a last resort...So sad..so very sad:(

I could be wrong here but I don't think any sofware company is under legal obligation to maintain support for old software. You might want to dig out the license agreement that you signed when you first got the software, it's pretty long and covers just about everything including the bathroom sink. If you want your software back you'll need to contact one of your dealer buddies and order the upgrade. They'll give you a good price I'm sure. If you don't want to use SCT then there are clearly other options, oh and I'll give ya fiddy bucks for your useless SCT stuff. :D

I got my numbers right after buying this racers sct tuning stuff.
never have used it because my car has never ran long enough to
even try to hook up and use.
So Dave are you saying that I would need to buy more, to use
my sct racer tuning stuff? If I ever can afford to replace and get my
motor running again.

Actually I can use the "SCT" useless stuff with other software. Its not a matter of supporting the original software..Its a matter of letting me USE the software I bought. There can definitely be an issue with that

Randy, as long as your SCT software is installed on the computer it was originally installed on it will continue to work just fine. If you change computers you'll have to upgrade to the newer format which can be done for a nominal fee. The new format is not limited to one computer, instead it can be used on any computer, anywhere, and even multiple computers.
Unlock keys for software is a common issue with just about any software designer who is concerned about product security. Many companies also charge a fee for replacement software keys. SCT has done nothing wrong here. Believe me, they are very careful regarding legal matters. If you were the first person to get upset over something and threaten legal action that would be one thing, but you aren't the first person to get upset with SCT. However, the fact is they have the best software available and you know it, that's why you bought it in the first place. ;)

DAVE D. I received the unlock number on my mac. But have
never found where to type it in on the windows based laptop,
I bought for just tweeking my tune..
I have not said that I was upset with SCT. But if I had to do it over as
far as buying a tuning system. I would now buy a fast system. I like
the idea of being able to download egt from each cylinder.
I bought a A/R blower from you. The only reason was so I would get a tune
for my car. I have tried to get a base tune for years. Now I have no motor
worth tuning. So no use in even hooking up my SCT Racer tuner package.
Or a motor to bolt your A/R blower kit on. I would of already had a new
motor that I planned for you to build for me. But was never able to buy pistons to do so.
I have spent thousands of dollars toward getting a tune. time spent swapping
4 sets of head gaskets after two dyno tunes ,A/r blower for the chip tune,
and price of one motor gone from tuning, SCT Racers package, laptop,
etc and some items I have forgot. I have 5 times in money toward trying
to get a tune than this car is worth. And still do not have a tune that
works.
I got two thousand dollars out of the bank to have you haul my SC to the
Oklahoma Shootout and then tune my car. You choose not to go though
with this deal.So you are loosing money also, from me not being able to
get a dyno tune. and the loss of money for two motors to rebuild,
because of me not being able to buy pistons.
I have the four sets of heads to build from stock 280 rwhp & steg welded
for a 300rwhp nice street performer stock block,To the highest horse
power SC motor, from one welded set 425rwhp & one billet set of heads.
CFM flow number show a possiable 580 to 600 rwhp. I have not done
any thing to get a motor going for a little over a year now. Your mouth
would fall open if you new the price of all these heads. That I have no
use for.
So with the no luck getting on a dyno for a base tune, I have never had
a chance to try to hook up my SCT Racers tuning package to ever do
any type tweeking on my stock motor.. So now after five to six years
of no tune tries. I just don't see any since in using the thousands of
dollars of parts I have. To have you do a motor build on the two motors
I have.
After years of BS with this type SC 3.8 power plant, that has shown me nothing .
If I would keep this type V6 power I am going to have to go
back to bone stock, because its untunable being just slightly modified.
I plan to continue to do some work on the body and chassis. I don't
know what to do about the SC 3.8 motor. l am waiting to get some
info on the new John Kassas(sp) Ford style 429 Boss Hemi heads
that match the 460 ford and 514 crate blocksbolt pattern.
I would realy like to keep the SC 3.8 motors I have. But so far
as far as I can see, the SC 3.8 motor is worthless as the titts on
a bore hog. And with all the bickering on line here from the tiny
group of horse power guys. I really do not want to be any part
of there political, mine is bigger than yours attatude..
I looked at a 180'' rail this weekin. I thought about installing a
ford SC 3.8 in. It was a turn-key setup with chevy power, with
glide trans. I did not like the chassis build. So we did not buy it.
I can build a much better tube chassis car myself. I am
leaning going to a tube chassis rail type dragster for my SC3.8
motors. This type chassis would be easier to work on than
a full bodyed MN12. Since I can only stand up for a few
minutes at a time, so I need to set in a chair while working.
Dave D. & Damon What would you do if you was setting in my shoes?

Well randy. I have had my fair share of bad sc luck lately. As of januart 2008 sct upgraded to advantage 3.0 software. For 100 buck upgrade I can now install the software in any computer without having to get a new key from sct. Well worth it in my opinion. I've had this stuff since early 2004 so for 100 bucks it was worth it to me.
Now if I were you I'd go with a nice shortblock comprising of h beam 351 rods, stock crank and a set of pistons. Weisco, diamond, ross and JE have the dimentions for this setup. Now those pistons will work with almost any head you got there except for perhaps something custom that you had made. Get a nice cam and get er together. From there we can see what we can do about a tune. Ill pm you when I have access to a computer. On my blackberry today
So in the end...100 bucks and I'm back in buissness!!!!

Dave,
I originally bought the sct software because I didn't know of a comparable setup for that price where I can burn my own chips. The eec tuner is slow anmd had issues Now I know better as far as options however the sct setup does anything I need. Now to blow stuff up!

Glad to hear you got your pass word that has 185 numbers and letters... 4 your SCT tuner..
I have had a 427 stroker, ausie blocked 351, with Yates heads.
4 weber carbs. Made a what I name a vacumn carb tuner for
balancing & tuning the carbs. Ran great. Settin in a Pantra.
I have posted some pictures here, a few years ago.

I like the rail idea. With a rail you can ditch all the goofy intake system stuff we have and put the blower on properly and run nitro enriched alcohol.
