I took my supercharger to the local machine shop to get the silencer ports welded. I told the guy that he needed to be very carefull because if he warps the case then it's probably gonna be junk... & if he didn't think he could do it, to let me know. I explained that I only wanted a rectangular piece of aluminum welded on top & tack welded on each of the 4 sides (on each hole). I get it back today & he tells me I may want to take it to another machine shop to get it honed out. He shows me what he did. He stuck a piece of aluminum down in the hole (which isn't necessarily a bad thing) & welded it in. As I looked closer, it looked like he welded it from both outside & inside the case. Then it shows marks on the inside where he tried to take a grinder & smooth it out. Also, there's marks on the inside from where it looks like he clamped it in the vice... long lines that go from front to back! He also told me he left the metal on the inside a little high so the guy at the other machine shop will have more to work with. What a jackass! Then his boss hands me the bill... $51. I'm no genius & I'm still learning about cars, but when something like the blower case has a tight tolerance, you should try to do your best not to scratch the inside, let alone weld & grind in it. F**K!!! It's still making me mad the more I think about it. Later in the day I took it back, showed them that they pretty much messed up my case & got my money back. I knew there was a chance to warp the case & I totally understood that. If he would've done it the way I asked him to & it warped I would have been ok, but to disregard what I told him is completely unacceptable.
So here's the thing. My friend says he can fix it... & I trust him. He has a lot of patience & is very mechanically inclined. But if he cannot make it work, I'm gonna need another case to fit my 94. So keep a look out just in case. Thanks for listening to me vent off some steam!!!

Silencer ports
My dad had Charles at MP block off the air ports in my first generation MP 3 we found it didnot help at all. Welding them up is a bad idea it warps the case we took and made aluminum pices and epoxied them in place. I have a JDR ported 95 case if needed

I had one that was warped we took it to a machine shop with a cnc he fixed it up but it cost more than just buying a used case

I suppose you could always just buy the MPx casing now???

Just out of curiousity why did you want them welded up anyways?Did you just want a louder whine?

...YEAH, I like that idea!!!

...Just to make it louder. I knew doing that had no performance gains. We did port out the inlet plenum, the back of the sc case & have new parts for a rebuild.

Instead of welding in large chunks of aluminum, they should have just welded a series of small aluminum wires across the slits. Then you use epoxy to fill the slots and the wires hold it in place. Sounds like your case is scrap metal now.
