just wondering. for you guys who have some experience with running your MN12 cars down the drag strip
in my mark VIII last year my best was a 14.4 at 96mph, on exaust, rear gear and a Jmod.

this year.
the set up includes
the 3:73 rear gear, full true duel exaust with high flow cats and flowmaster 40's. the Jmod.
as well as a 97 Intake, MSD coils and wires, A 100 shot of the happy gas.
and a 3 program tune chip with a stock tune a 91 octain tune and a nitrous tune.
I'm sure I will be able to hit the 13's pritty easly.
what I'm wondering is how much of a problem are the half shafts if I slap a set of drag radials on the back?

I'm trying to decide on the make either a MT ET street or the Nitto DR.
I have heard that the ET street hooks way better but wears to fast too drive on the street.
and the Nitto has a better Life on the street but dosnt hook as well on the strip.
because of that I'm leaning towards the Nittos, simply because I'm hopping they will be easyer on the half shafts.

Any one with some experience want to chip in?
thanks

Not a whole lot of Ontario guys on this forum who've run a Mark VIII down the quarter mile that I'm aware of. You may have to take a look around on TCCoA to get an idea of what a representative time would be for the mods you have planned.

cheers

I more concerned about how much a beating the half shafts can take.
does any body run there SC's a fair bit?

You will not break your half shafts, if Dave N can put his car through its various beatings with a 75 shot and 430 rwhp, you will not have a issue, the nitto's are crap stay away from them period, and the MT ET's seem to last fairly well for the mustang guys, one guy had 20,000 kms on them and they still looked decent.

As far as time, Id say you will run a 13.4-6, depending on your 60fts, I'd spray her once you get moving to get that pig of a car in motion, then let the top end power take over.

thanks thats good info and just what I was hoping for
as for the giggle gas.
when running last year on street tires. I had a hard time getting traction but it pulled really strong threw first and second. it wasnt untill 3rd when it would lag off.
when racing against my bosses 98 convertable vette.
I had him in first and second it wasnt till third that he got me.
I'm thinking of not spraying to I get into second.
anyone know how long a shot usually lasts?
I'm using a zex dry kit with a 100 shot

If you are sending the signal via the TPS wire, which I assume that you are, then it lasts until you get out of WOT. Thats the way the dry kit that I had a few years back worked anyway. Thats going to make it tough to launch unless you get an RPM window switch. Do you also have a bottle heater?
