I just registered with these guys for their April 9th date. http://www.americancarracing.com/index.html
They are having a track day at the Streets course up at Willow. This is 20 miles north of Palmdale. 2+ hours of track time for $150. Not bad! Any of you folks got it in ya? Bring extra brake pads if you decide to come...Hope to see some of you there.

Now Al, that's no way to talk about Mike. Why not sign up yourself with the hayhauler? I'll wear out brakes, you'll wear out front tires...They've had those over priced Tahoes (H2) why not a 6000 lb Mopar? Bring Mike along....he's got to have something worth driving...If you can get there, I can always use help. Look for the car with the driver screaming like a little girl getting pounded on by Civics and Corollas. It won't be that bad but I should be the slowest driver with one of the quicker cars...Kinda like the good ol' days. mid 14 sec car and a 16 sec driver...the stakes have just gotten higher and the car much quicker. Now its a 10 sec car with a 15 second driver (I've been practicing). 7.2@98 in the 1/8th at Barona last time...if I could find a 1/4 that would let me run....I'd be there. Something about my next of kin suing when they have to scrape me up with brooms and dustpans keeps getting me turned away...go figure...
Hope to see you there,
Anthony

Mike is more of a sea dog now. As for the truck, negatory. That bitch runs on sand and dirt and ocassionaly, through corn fields running from the law. :p

Is everybody here afraid to put their "big boy pants" on and come out and play? 150 bones are tough to find and it is a normal workday but come-on kids, ask the other half if you can have your sack just for this one day and lets have some fun! Cut the damn cord already...
Al, if you can get there, bring a second set of drawers....I'll have a pair of helmets and we'll strap you in for a ride along...assuming the track guys approve ;)

It was a great day with some incredible cars. I was able to pass many of the street cars and keep pace with some of the faster prepped cars but got blown passed by a prepped GT (not a Mustang GT....the real deal guys) on R compound tires...It was insane...my car can accelerate pretty healthily (0-100mph in 7.2ish) but this thing went by me like I was in a Yugo!

Then there was this Vette that had a ...ummm...problem...

Maybe next time some of you can join in the fun!

:eek::eek: That is just awesome!!!! that had to be lots of fun. There is now way in this world that I could go ONE lap without getting passed by everyone and overheating the SC. at this stage I wouldn't be surprised if I blew a HG :p OH the joy of getting whooped by at GT. Hey just be glad it wasn't a Bugatti Veyron!!!:eek:

I see you keep getting lucky with BEAST cars.

If it had been 3 yrs ago, I'da been there! That's a lot of fun.

Anthony, do you remember the cruise we had east of San Diego yrs ago? How I would lay back & then charge up & through the turns. Man I love that! :) The last time I got to play was @ an SCCA autocross down here in SD about 4 yrs ago. I did terrible! Found out afterwards my rear swaybar was dis-connected at both ends!

But now it's too far away & I'm too worn down by the chemo. :(

My son & I went yarding last weekend and found the black plastic panels I was misssing for my windsheild washer. I did 3/4 of the work @ the yard, but by the time we got back I had to go lay my old bones down & the kid did the install. Talk about a weak-assed whimp! Geesh I hate this!

I'm glad you had a great time, & hope you keep at it. It's the most fun (outside the bedroom) I've ever had & with practice it gets even better.

It really was a great day that I hope to repeat in the fall with the same group. They'll be going to the Big Track though which is a longer much higher speed track.
007,
Luck had nothing to do with this one, but it sure is a beast. That GT was on R compound tires and was very well sorted...I on the other hand am very green and had street tires up front...No excuses, I bet with equal cars the guy could have driven around me anyway.
Lee,
You say the word when you want to race, we'll make it happen. No rear sway bar??? Have a little push? That'll slow ya down. At least you had an excuse to be bad....

On a spur of the moment call we made it out to the Barona 1/8th this weekend....a good time was had by all. There were some really amazing bikes there. At speed I feel a little exposed in my car. I can't imagine what those guys feel like. Someday, maybe I'll get a chance to run at a 1/4 mile track...when residents of the People's Republic of Kalifornia decide to quite suing eachother...
