Went to replace my valve seals today and yuck.....Good amount of burnt oil inside the head near the valve exit......Should I remove the old carbon and burnt stuck on oil or leave it....Theres probably a 1/16" there just near the exit...Intake seals were worn on valve stem runner..

Never messed with the insides of a head before...

Thanks

of coarse it should be cleaned up, why do it at all...if you don't...
a happy motor is a clean one or head in this case

Well, it depends - does the car the heads came out of have a moonroof?

No? ...leave the gunk. The smaller chamber capacity will increase compression, promote flow and you can risk higher speeds on the express way.

Of course you could always just weld up the hole in the roof, but then you'd have to strip out your power steering and power windows to compensate.

I cleaned them up on my kitchen counter..lol...No wonder why she left me....Carbon came out pretty nice..Light wire wheel on a dremmel...Blown clean..The valve edges are not bad a little cooked on carbon but the seats are nice and clean....The carbon and oil was with the exhaust valves...my bad...

Very soon I start another job but until then its all about SCz

while cleaning, make sure to say off of the valve seats, and if you've got the time maybe, as someone said lap the valve's in

good luck
