If you wanna go fast and wreck your tranny, 1-d-1-d

If you wanna go fast and not wreck the tranny, 1-d

If you wanna go normal, D

If you want to be a pimp, get a lentech valvebody with electronic od delete, :D

With my Lentech VB, I shift

1, D, OD with OD deleted = 1, 2, 3 and after clearing the traps I flip the switch to allow the shift into OD.

It's easy to drive and doesn't hurt the tranny like shovel shifting.

09-12-2002, 01:24 PM

did you eat a lot of paint chips when you were a kid? :)

I shift like this: 1, 2, 3, 4....

09-13-2002, 06:29 PM

1-d-1-d shifting stresses the intermediate one way clutch. when this clutch fails, your 1-2 shift will be delayed and more harsh. you may also lose the ability to engine brake in 2nd.

MECHANICAL DIODES!!!!!...Hmm and about real trannies..What are most of the fastest SC's running anyway?..Autos or 5 speeds:O)

09-14-2002, 07:54 PM
autos can handle more torque than 5-speeds.

yes mechanical diodes are much better!

1) B&M does not "make" a AOD, although they did used to sell a stocker through Summit with a few B&M parts on it (pan, shift kit, etc). Either way, its sure to be a pile of crap, like everything else they make.

2) Rebuilding the AOD will never make it strong enough to survive the 1-D-1 shifts over time, particularly if you have more torque than stock. A different converter won't affect this.

3) Put it in D and leave it. If you must shift for yourself, buy a Lentech as nothing else on the market can do what it does (every other kit/rebuild still uses the stock valve body).

4) Although you'll get better launches with an AOD, nothing beats a 5sp for the rest of the race :)
