Power Steering

I think it just takes regular Ford ATF or Power Steering fluid. Presumably Mercon IV since Mercon V didn't exist at the time.

flush

You probably already know this but.
Plan on flushing the entire power steering system with new fluid when you replace the lines and pump. The majority of the fluid lies in the steering rack. Old contaminated and cavitated fluid cause the familiar ps pump whine. Do a search if you don't already know how to this, it's pretty easy, but really helps to have two people (one to turn the wheel). If you're careful three quarts should be plenty to perform the flush and fill.

get dirty,
Bob
