Good to know! After reading RalphP's reply in phils89sc thread that after 26-30 years they were likely no good
I was thinking he was basing that strictly on age, since no mileage was mentioned in...

Date codes on shocks or shelf life?

I see another thread here discussing shocks & condemning them based on age(not nessasarily mileage)
Do they deteriate just from sitting on shelf & is there a date code on them or any way to tell...

    Firm ride

    "Very firm" compared to what?
A non S/C Cougar or Thunderbird? Or ?

I suspect may be nothing wrong if light is not flashing
    (which means there are D.T.C's)
  7. I agree with KMT

I think the GFX on S/C does contribute to the early rust & failure of rockers
My 2 XR-7's(which have no lower skirting) are both great shape
compared to the S/C's & they're all Ontario Canada cars...

    Show in July

I had good intentions & spent most of the day before cleaning & checking over the 77.
I took it that night to a cruise about 40 minutes away (Port Hope ) & blew a top rad hose on the
    way home at...

    Get together

Did it happen ? Unfortunately I put all my S/C stuff away the previous weekend.
The only things still at home were the Turbo Coupes & the 77, or I would've been there.

  15. Wrong dipstick &/or tube ?

If wrong tube or dipstick combo was used during swap, it may indicate fluid
is full, when it is actually low.
When you take that first turn, fluid runs away from pick up.
Once it warms up a bit...

I think anytime you can bring it home without something being broken is a bonus
on top of your other weekend accomplishments.

3.8 S/C in Fox body Thunderbird

I thought I read a article once that Ford had the Supercharged version of the 3.8 in development in 1985 for the 87-88 Foxbody Thunderbird to replace the
2.3 Turbo that they had been using in the...
  18. Cool article !

So, I was right about the reason they used a .010" undersize main on the rear of the S/C engines.
My uncle worked in final balancing at Essex plant & told me this fact when I bought my first T-bird...
  19. Rear main's on S/C are .010" undersize

I was told this ensured that they did not try to drop in the cast crank for the N/A engines
rather then the forged one for the S/C"s at Essex plant. Not sure if that's true or not ?

Did you read date that thread was started ?

Nothing has ever materialized the past 2 cruising seasons(if it did it wasn't posted here), so I don't imagine it ever will.

I'm going to be there too.

But with my 77 bird if weather is excellent
or with the anni if questionable. I will not be meeting at Enroute though.
    See you there.

    No power assist

If you have power to the motor, that eliminates
the pressure switch, relay & power supply(s)
It has to be a bad motor/pump assy if its not running
