    Head Gaskets which side goes

As the title says, in your experience with these which side has gone out on you ?
I have done several of these and its always the same side (passenger side) never the drivers. Is there a weakness on that side of just luck of the draw?

Both sides blew on my black xr7. The passengers side had the most coolant in it by far though. I pulled the spark plug out of cylinder number 3 and got a face full of coolant

I couldn't really tell which side went on my 90 but a knocking and whining noise was on the driver's side. I sold the car as a fixer-upper .

I've done hundreds of Head gasket jobs on the 3.8l. Most under the recall of the late 90's. Always seemed to blow #3(passenger rear cylinder) or #4 (drivers forward most cylinder). Had one cracked block that threww me for a loop one time...

in my 96 3.8 #3 blew bigtime.... but in my 91 SC it looks like cyl #4 blew, but cyl #3 was definatly leaking or on its way to blowing

The heads are identical, so there actually the same. Just on different banks (sides). The gasket deforms/oblongs until it reaches the water jacket...well you know the rest.

It sucked 1 3/4" of the o ring into the cyl then blew it out to the exhaust(several years ago)! Just found the marks on the piston top yesterday when I was cleaning the carbon off. The piece of o ring fell out of the cat when the original exhaust pipes were cut off two years ago when I had a new system put on.
