Fender Bender

My son called me up this afternoon from Home Depot where he's a vendor and said some "retard" customer hit the opal frost '94 while parking. My son was inside working when it happened and he got all of the customers info who has already called his insurance company and accepted fault and I have a claim reference number. He sent me a picture on my phone and it looks like I'll need a front bumper, drivers side fender and corner light. That's all I could tell from the picture so I'll look at it tomorrow in the light to see if anything else is damaged. I'll get a couple of estimates and then fix it myself and pocket the difference, who knows, might get enough to get the whole car painted.

It looks like you can add a header panel to the list. The "retard" was backing out of the spot...................

That should buff right out

HaHa.................:D

I just got off the phone with the insurance company so I'm gonna take it to Beach Ford for an estimate, hopefully they'll give me one for at least $1200. I figure the parts will cost me $200 at Pic N Pull and then a $500 paint job from Maaco or Earl Scheib and she'll look better than it did. The remainder can go towards the '89 trans repair..................:D

You laugh.........If Mike was still here, I bet he could buff that out, with his uber skillz and a jug of Poorboy's.

I might have to break out the really good stuff, but I think it's buffable!

Road trip..........???????

Estimate from Beach Ford Collision Center is $1907.93, so now I'm waiting to talk to the insurance rep. to see what's up. I hope they don't say it's totalled because it's too nice to part out, all it needs after repairs is a paint job and it'd be pristine, it has a new motor with around 65k, a new trans. and the interior is immaculate but we'll see. I could do a whole lot with $1900 to fix it and some things on the other cars..............:D

When they total out the car you can buy it back from them. They will give you the car and partial cash. My escort was totaled by the insurance company in 1998. There was $2000 in damage, when I bought the car back, I got the car and $1200. The cost to fix the car was about $400 dollars worth of junkyard parts and a couple rattle cans of Rustoleum, but I am still driving it today.

Talked to the agent and it's gonna take a few days for a decision, I hope it goes my way............

Here's some daylight pics.
