I will post pics, but picked up a 1991 SC red in color for 200 bucks blown up. I got a 1997 thunderbird N/A for an engine, the swap is complete and its awsome! I have added alcahol injection to keep the NA block alive under boost. Also has a 50 shot of NOS in it. Its a 5spd with 70 thousand on the clock.

Wish I could find a cheap deal like that. Never in the right place at the right time. I dont think you will keep the engine together alcohol or not. The NA engine doesnt hold up long under boost. Some here have tried. Find a SC engine and fix it up like you would want and when the NA engine goes puff. You can drop another right in.

Thats what I have been told, but I do have 2500+ miles on it already over the past month. I use it as my sales car, and have 0 issues out of it

I have been also told I couldnt not use the OBD2 block in this car. (Matter of fact, I have been called a down right liar about it.....because of the crank sensor cant bolt to it) But I have never been one to believe what I am told, must find out for myself. And so far, this has been one of those times I am very happy I went with my own know how, and not listen to the hype here on the internet and else where ;) This is not the first NA motor I put some boost too, and dont see or understand why its any different than any other NA motor I have put turbos on. Dont detonate it, and it should be fine.

My tottal cost into the car is less than 500 dollars, so not real worried if it pops. The engine out of it is being built as we speak...just in case .....lol

I think I should clarify a bit. My goal was to put it on the road for as little as possible. I had all the parts laying around my garage. And I mixed and matched the parts. The crank is is out of the SC engine. I also used the heads. I guess all I used from the NA motor was the block, pistons and rods....lol it was a budget build, . Since. I Have fallen n love with the car I may keep it and am redoing the stock block all forged. It was over reved. And broke a rod and piston. Thankfully the block is OK. The car also started life as an aod car now a 5 spd car.

I beleive the SC crank is diffrent than an NA so kindof scratching my head on the part about the crank coming from an SC:confused:

Crank dropped right in, so if there is, not sure what it is. My biggest obstacle was the crank sensor.

Crank will work in NA block just need the SC main bearings. As number 3 is the different size.

Clearly you got the skilz to own, operate, and maintain an SC. Not that you need me to say it! lol!

Anyway, very nice work. Hope it continues to deliver the fun and that when/if it fails you'll be ready to fix it again...

Welcome...;)

Did you have to do any machine work to the block or crank......

No I did no machine work. I did however use playdoh for valve to piston clearance checking  since the sc pistons where dished, and the NA are flat tops, thus more compression, wanted to make sure I wouldnt hit them. It was actually pretty straightforward build though, I am putting a wideband O2 in it here soon, and thinking about running it on my megasquirt so I can dial everything in myself.

I have actually always been a GM guy....lol Till recently. I am doing a 1965 fast back mustang right now also.

This is my lexus sc300 getting turboed and megasquirted. Ended up changing the intake on it, as it was just too close to the intercooler tubing.

Hopes its everything you bargained for at the time of purchase. Barn and field finds can be all of our dreams or nightmares. Good luck with the build.
