Updates:

Man haven't done a update in a while.

Pedal Assembly:

I made my own bracket to mount the pedal, a piece of scrap aluminum.

Wiring:

So I'm using the Coyote Control Pack. If you buy a complete engine with the wiring harness, and you are good with wiring...have fun. haha I paid extra for the control pack because I'm stupid when it comes to wiring.

This was taken a couple weeks ago, everything is working but the fuel gauge, have to dial in the ohm's to work correctly. Still going to keep the bottom dash lights, Autometer sells the twist sockets that fit perfectly. Gotta find them cheap though. They are $10 a pop new.

Wilwood 4 Piston Calipers. Had a custom CNC bracket made to fit. They are for a C5 corvette.

Wheels:

I bought Mustang 11-14 Track Pack wheels (19x9 front, 19x10 rear). Had some rubbing issues in the front so had to get a 1" spacer to resolve that issue. With the rear I'm using a 1.5" spacer to fit the 19x10 with a 295/30/19 tire.

Exhaust:

So right now I have temporarily put some 2.5" flex pipe for the down tubes until I can go to a exhaust shop to have the permanent fix. The exhaust is mid length kooks, dual 2.5", x-pipe and magnaflow mufflers at the rear.

SCT Tune:

So my problem right now, every time I create a tune and load it to the car I get a no start condition. If I load the stock tune back to the car she will fire right up. So working with SCT and couple guys on the forums to help me out.

That is about it, I have been able to drive the car around on low RMP's. I've been babying the ~~~~ out of it. Took it out on the highway and drives ok. So far I have clocked 70 miles on the set up.

Not using the engine cover anymore, because it does not fit when you close the hood. Sucks, really wanted to keep it on there.

very nice, sounds awesome.

Thank you!

Updates:

Power steering: I'm having the worst luck with my power steering. I fix a leak, replace the rack, replace a line, replace a line and now the reservoir cracks. Ok cool. I replaced it with a Moroso unit, no cracks. But with my luck it will probably melt away IDK. I like it, a little engine dress up.

Battery trunk switch! Doesn't work for some reason, Hmmm?

20160802_214352_zpswcufolg3.jpg

I was able to find a black clean looking ON/OFF 12V switch for the OD. Looks pretty stock-clean.

Also the red button on top of the Hurst handle, any guesses what it's wired up to?

Wheels & Tires: So I sold off my stock Mustang track pack wheels. Why? because they were all 19x9 and I wanted to buy a 19x10 for the rear for the wider tire. You can't sell two and buy two because the color is not the same. Sell all four! I found out that the aftermarket track pack wheels are 3 pounds lighter then stock. Saved 12 pounds!

I have a 1" spacer in front and a 1/8" in the rear to clear the parking brake cable. Honestly I could zip tie the cable and lose the spacer I guess. The front is a 255/30 and rear is a 295/30. I went with HANKOOK VENTUS V12. Nothing super great, good overall tire for summer and dry fun so it will do the job. Safe for wet day heading home if I get caught in the rain.

Aftermarket left, stock right. The wheel cap stickers are from ClintD. 5 for $15. Send him a PM.

Lastly, working on little things. To name a few: Wire up gauge lights / clean up harness, Exhaust down pipes, Radio, smaller interior touches, Battery off switch and a couple other things.

This winter is body work and a possible paint job. Pink.

How much are you saving by going with a Department of Boost manifold and GT500 blower over a kit like Roush or VMP?

Thanks man!

The manifold kit and hardware I got for $2k new from a owner who never mounted it. He threw in the supercharger for free. So far way cheaper than a Roush kit. You could probably do it for less than $4k.

Looking good, can't wait to see how it looks and runs with the supercharger. Does that mean you will also need to make a custom hood ?

David

Thanks Dave, yea I shouldn't have to. I already have a 3" cowl VFN hood. I'm sure a NA coyote without the engine cover would clear a stock hood.

This thread needs a Coyote update

Where to start?

Interior:

I purchased a 6 point roll cage during the winter, it will have removable side bars. Having it professionally installed and welded in by fabricator that works on drag cars. Going back to the stock shifter (See transmission update below). I removed and sold the aftermarket black carpet I’ve had for 10 years. I’m replacing it with stock carpet from my 97 Tbird parts car. Going to have it cleaned and dyed black. Replacing the stock seats, yet again with a pair of Sportline RRS Corbeau Racings seats with 5 point harness. This time I won’t be using their brackets. I have a pair of MN12 manual seat brackets that I will modify to work.

Suspension and Chassis:

Just installed rear aluminum subframe bushings, beefy rear diff mount and LWP cover. Waiting on new QA1 coil over shocks front and rear. Dropped the AJE K-member one inch because the Supercharger was slightly touching the hood. This will also help with the transmission clearance as well.

Wheels:

Over the winter I had my front wheels narrowed 1.5” to help with the rubbing issue with the strut bar.

Fuel system:

I recently bought an Aeromotive 15 gallon fuel cell, new PFTE lines, fittings, fuel filter and fuel rails

Engine / Trans management:

So I ditched the FRPP Coyote control kit for Power by the hour’s engine/trans control kit for the Coyote 5.0 and the 6R80 auto. This works all together on the same computer instead of using two standalone units to control each. The transmission will also have a sport mode to shift threw all the gears manually with a touch of a button.

Transmission:

Picked up a 6R80 from a 2014 F150 with just over 5K miles. With a one inch drop from the K-member I hope this will fit in the trans tunnel. I will be able to use the MN12 stock shifter and cable with a 4R70W lever adapter. I’m hoping with a custom 6R80 mount, it will work with the MN12 cross trans brace.

Anyways just waiting on parts. Between family, work, house projects and everything else I might do a 3rd shift again to finish this for summer.

First drive of 2017 with the new set up. Supercharger, Fuel cell, coil overs and more. The first MN12 with a Supercharged Coyote 5.0. Still tuning the car, need the exhaust done, dyno and few odds and ends. Feels great to be back in a Thunderbird!
