Revised--I don't want to seem like i'm pushing people, but we need to know who's serious and who's not:

Some good points, Jon. I hear you that $495 is, you know....$495, and if your SC is mostly stock, your gains would be less with the plenum. But consider this, I live in Canada, and our dollar is (give or take on the day) worth about 73-77 percent of the USD, and I still see this as a good deal, because of the HP per dollar. Anyone in the US already has a far better deal than me, and I'm envious. But lord knows that I've already spent more on my exhaust for less of a percentage gain there. The other thing is that this deal to make plenums for us may never come around again. The other thing is that, in terms of bolt ons, anything that gives you a 9 percent increase, is a ridiculous bargain. People will spend money on underdrives, throttle bodies, cold air intakes that give far less HP gains. I don't know if you do your own modification work, but speaking personally, I do, and taking off the supercharger and plenum and putting it back on, is about an hour to an hour and a half. So for me, that $495 is a DIY bolt on that makes a heckuva lot of sense.
You are envious about our dollar? LOL. It's worth about 85% what it was in 2008, so you must have loved us then! We haven't mandated car maintenance hear, yet. Does Canada provide that free yet?
AFA the 9% increase in HP - that 40+ HP (or whatever) estimate is based on one Dyno run reported a long time ago on a heavily and professionally modified engine. Numbers and curves like that don't necessarily scale up or down - that's why the big guys do dynos. Others can comment, but in my car the actual power gain from a less restrictive plenum would be rather modest. My mods are listed in my garage. I would anticipate a little more throttle response, and maybe a reduction in the parasitic SC HP from pumping efficiency that would translate into some power, and probably more torque. Trying to be realistic.
This shouldn't be that hard of a decision to make. It's a performance part and we're men. If I have to choose between car parts or paying the power bill and feeding myself I will eat the neighbors cat and start burning my furniture for heat.

+1000!!!!
Neverfastenough nailed it, too.....if ever our cars are wrecked, all we have to do is pull off the plenum (an hour long job, at most) and then sell it on here. It's a great investment. It's not like an upgraded exhaust, which goes down with the ship, as they'd say. On top of that, I still maintain that--yes, the dyno'd car in question has the requisite major mods in head work, cam, etc, if it's over 400 rwhp--but every mod that we do on these cars are support mods.....exhaust, intake, heads, pulley, intercooler. One could say that an intercooler isn't necessary, either, but I would highly disagree. If one has to think too hard about spending the money (even on something like an intercooler), they're not serious about making power. That's fine. Everybody should be able to enjoy their car whichever way they like, and sometimes the best thing is just to get in it and drive, rather than worry about upgrades and finances.
Im kinda bummed that these wont be powder coated. When these were first introduced was there an upcharge for powdercoating?

If we're struggling to get to five people to buy these plenums, we have to realize that Charles has to go to his casting company with a minimal order, which means that his price per unit is more expensive. Just pointing this out for people that don't realize what is involved, and why, at 5 units, it costs more to make than 10 units. Our cars are a very, very, very specialized niche business, because of their scarcity.....more and moreso with more cars hitting the wrecker every year, vehicles being written off, etc.
Just a guess here, but possibly when they were first introduced, was there way more demand for these? One of the basic rules of business is that the more demand for something means that you can make more units, which means that your cost per unit goes down as you manufacture more, and that you can pass that savings onto your customers.
The other frame of mind is that when they were first introduced, perhaps costs were lower. With each passing year, inflationary costs of things go up on a variety of levels. All I know is that finding parts for these cars become a bit more difficult each year, and that, undoubtedly, the vendors and aftermarket specialists for these cars are likely incurring more expenses to make things available to us. I was just curious is all. I wasnt insinuating anything just asking a simple question. Please don't read to far into it. Im super greatful for the opportunity to have these come back around. You can see by my join date that im new to this club and these cars and the aftermarket that supports them.
I just wanted to know if when these were first produced if they came powdercoated at the price they sold for? My reasoning was not because I thought it was cheaper to produce without because im sure there is cost associated with polishing. I just wanted mine to match my blower and ic tubes and didnt know if I should volunteer payment to get it powdercoated if it was something that was offered previously at the set price as I was not a member the last time these were sold. Not trying to jerk anyone around.
I get your excited about this and want them to be made. So do I. That doesnt mean I cant ask questions or inquire about what im going to spend my hard earned money on In an attempt to make a smart informed purchase.
