Knocking

Engine knocks at idle. As soon as I hit the gas it's gone, but resumes as soon as the rpms go down to under 1000. It's an intermittent knocking, not pinging. It quiets down but is still present when the car warms up. Car is a fully stock 5-speed 89 with 135800 on it. Spark plug wires are all seated firmly at both ends. I dunked around with my exhaust manifolds once a while ago, but I was able, to my knowledge, to get them back on tight (those things are so hard to work with!).

I'm sorta stumped cuz of the when-where-how it knocks.

Temporarily remove all the belts and run the motor like that just long enough to verify if the sound is still there or goes away. The sound could easily be coming from an accessory or the supercharger.

Alright, I'll try that sometime when I get some time on my hands. I know the AC is bad and also that the supercharger leaks from the snout. So we'll see! Thanks!
