Tty bolts

Since the torque spec is in degrees of rotation and not ft-lbs, it really doesn't matter. I usually use a little bit of oil or pb blaster on the threads just to prevent galling the threads, but you only want to use a tiny amount.

That being said, if you are replacing the head gaskets, ditch the TTY bolts and get a set of ARP head studs. It will eliminate the speculation about the bolts, will hold the heads more securely which means less chance of the gasket blowing again, and if you do ever have the heads off again, you won't have to buy new bolts again.

Yep arp studs is what im going with. Ty makes a lot of sense to stud it and if im taking heads off again for install of other performance parts etc for example, im not spending another 43 dollars to bolt them down again. And im thinking it would be a better removal and install just sliding them down the studs. Is there any clearance issues with valve covers?

No clearance issues with the valve covers, but you won't be able to slide the heads over the studs with the engine in the car, cause they will hit the shock towers.
