Father/Son 2000 Mustang v6 project

I purchased a 2000 mustang v6 car for my son as a project. The first one we bought had too much damage to repair so we parted it out and bought a better car to start with. After selling parts we didn't need and buying a low mile 4r70w to replace the bad trans in the car we had broke even. So I am in it for the following

03/04 cobra bumper 100
04 gt hood 100
Paint/clear 288

A big thanks to Randy for his help! Between him and my son we painted the car over the weekend and did alot of body work!!

The car has the following mods

Leather cobra interior
31 spline 8.8 w/3.73s and Trac lock
Konis all four corners
Eibach springa
Maximum motorsports camber plates
Flowmaster catback
Cold air intake
Sequintial smoked taillights

This is so cool. I have daughters so the father/son thing is out but perhaps my youngest will want to do something like this someday. I also admire folks who can paint in their own garage (assuming that's what you did).

At some point he's going to want to pull the V6 out and go with something quicker. That's my prediction anyway.

Go for it! This is very rewarding and they learn a few skills plus appreciation for the vehicle over just tossing some keys to them. This is cheapo paint job #3 for me first metallic one which is a ~~~~ BTW. Eventually this car might get a small single turbo if he is responsible with it.

My wife and I painted this Cobra we sold a few weeks ago.

And we also painted my SC most of which I did in the driveway.

Scored some goodies on rockauto!

Plugs
Wires
Motor mounts
Radiator cap
Belt
Front/rear pads
Front/rear rotors
Both front brake hoses (one looks jacked up)

167$ shipped Woo-hoo!

Now to install the exhaust system and all these parts. Order some new tires and get them mounted then it should be ready to go!

After installing all the parts from rock auto and installing the dual exhaust system we saved from our parts car we discovered BOTH exhaust manifolds were broken! This is something to keep in mind for those who like using stock mustang headers on you're SC. They are very craptastic!

The solution was a pair of ebay stainless headers so far very happy with the quality and price!

We also discovered that the balancer had failed and was causing nasty vibrations at idle. (Common problem). The 99/00 balancer is no longer available! And 01/04 is an internal balance motor. The solution is a 96/98 balancer and pulley. Jeramae hooked us up with a lightly used powerbond and I scored underdrives for 29$ on eBay!

We also scored a set of polished aluminum eagle alloy 17x9 cobra r's with brand new sumitomo htrz iis at pull a part!

Today we installed the balancer and underdrives. Also we changed the oil put gas in it and took it out for a maiden voyage. Drives/rides awesome! Just need to get the tailpipes welded on fix the burnt dash light bulbs install a radio and fix a couple little bs problems.

When it warms up we will polish the wheels and wet sand/buff the car.

He loved getting to drive it! It's actually pretty damn strong for an na 3.8
