I'd spray some white grease on the seals, mainly to aid assembly. If you've parts-washed internally, a bit on the moving parts won't hurt. Just don't pack it full.
Ah, doing tie-rods, got it, thanks - as long as there isn't any evidence it's been escaping and/or the teeth aren't dry, it might be fine as-is. Factory manual says 'apply a light coat of lubricant' to the teeth, so you look ok.
Referred to in the manual as 'tie rod ball socket assembly to rack', you hold one on one side, and turn the other on the other side, tightening both nuts simultaneously to 55~65 ft. lbs.
This process means you -don't- grab the rack ends.
