    steering rack & pinion grease

There's old grease on the tooth that may need to be replaced. What kind of grease should I use or do you think I don't need to?

I'd spray some white grease on the seals, mainly to aid assembly. If you've parts-washed internally, a bit on the moving parts won't hurt. Just don't pack it full.

I haven't disassembled the whole rack, just the inner tie rods.

Ah, doing tie-rods, got it, thanks - as long as there isn't any evidence it's been escaping and/or the teeth aren't dry, it might be fine as-is. Factory manual says 'apply a light coat of lubricant' to the teeth, so you look ok.

Anyone know the torque specs for the inner tie rod to rack? ('90 SC)
Also I don't see any flats on the rack end for a wrench to hold on to?

Referred to in the manual as 'tie rod ball socket assembly to rack', you hold one on one side, and turn the other on the other side, tightening both nuts simultaneously to 55~65 ft. lbs.

This process means you -don't- grab the rack ends.

    Ok

Thanks, will do. There's thread lock included so I'll use that too (no rivet).
