2019 Epic Drive progress reports

Not doing anything until after March. Hoping to fix driver door hinges and ceramic coat the headers. I still don't know the cause of my intermittent tach issues, but hoping reduced underhood temperatures will help.

I've had s faulty dis make my tech flip out right before it failed. Fyi the currently available parts store dis is garbage better off with an OEM one that works

Asking for a friend....What do you guys think an acceptable # of street miles or hours on a car coming out of a basically a two-year down-time should be?

Jacob - that car is close to the color I thought hard about using on my SC. I was thinking more of a charcoal metallic at one time. I'll probably just stick with black ....gloss or semi-gloss tho?

Needs to be back on the road first though...it's been lazy for the last two years.

I think that can be arranged :)

Tom's heads are done, so now I just need to sell a vehicle and install a bathtub...I'll probably start sneaking some work in on the SC anyway though.

Want help pulling the motor?

The orange one? That is a 10 guage for my lift. I am going to run it up stairs and over eventually when I eliminate some of my upstairs for some additional clearance above the lift.

Fyi they are extremely relaxed on such things in my county. I literally installed a new fuse box at my old house and the electric company came out pulled the meter and put it back in for me. Zero inspections.... I assure you its 110% safe just not pretty I will run it inside the wall and in the ceiling when I cut it out probably next year

Just pulling your chain...lol. If you look in my big building you would find some other stuff as well....Rich

Cam sensor ??

Oops, I've already tried different cam sensors. My car actually doesn't seem to run differently when the tach stops working, it's just unnerving driving for miles without the tach signal and a check engine light. I'm pretty sure that my quarterhorse still shows rpms on data logs, but it has been a while since I've checked that.

I think the tach bounce is when the ECU does a quick on-the-fly drive-cycle sensor check - it runs ok because certain default sensor values are used when it's still not happy with live data. Lack of actionable signal can be from not only a faulty sensor/module, but wiring and grounds as well, so best to keep looking. If the components in question are ok (swapped doesn't help), I'd focus on harnesses, connectors and grounds.

Remember that corrosion likes to hide, so if a given harness looks good on the outside, it might be compromised inside, at the pins, etc. I've seen cam sensor issues that turned out to be that the red rubber gasket in it's connector was doubled up, keeping the connector from fully seating & the pins from making reliable contact. Have you tried swapping at least the front upper harness for the crank/cam/DIS?
