Well guys its been a while since I've done one of these. When I built the motor for this car it was a toss up between 3.8 and 4.2. I decided on 3.8 and have been happy so far. Well like everything else that has been done to my car an opportunity presented itself to acquire a known good 4.2 and I couldn't resist. After receiving the motor it apparently had a small amount of metal pass through it at some point so my hope that it could be ball honed and ringed was a pipe dream lol.
The motor is being prepped first .004 had to be removed from the cylinders so the pistons are getting a special .004 coating and custom rings from total seal. Then while I'm in there I am having calico coated rod main and can bearings installed. Once it is all done I plan to pull the 3.8 and transfer all of the top end, dbl roller timing set and all the other goodies over from the existing 3.8. I am also going to send the clutch to McLeod to have it checked, install a condenser core for the eventual reinstall of the ac and do more wire tucking. The other upgrades I am doing are a Cadillac ATS brembo brake upgrade which I will discuss in detail. I am also having AJE upgrade the lower a arms while I'm at it because I noticed they were bent while preparing to pull the engine.
