Antilock Brake Driveway Test?

How do you conduct it and what should you look for?

How do you determine if your ABS system is ok?

When I brake, the car starts to shake pretty violently.

WHat would cause this crazy vibration???

Re: Antilock Brake Driveway Test?

Warped rotors possibly. Bad wheel bearing, bad tie rod ends?

Could be a couple of contributors. Likely the first.

Re: Antilock Brake Driveway Test?

As Bill said, that crazy vibration would probably be caused by warped brake rotors. The factory ones are WAY too small. Put it this way, the new SVT Focus with 170 hp and about 2600 lbs. has bigger front rotors than our 210 hp, 3900 lb. cars. You do the math !!!

There are a few ways of doing brake upgrades depending on what year your car is, what size wheels you're using, and how much $$$ you want to spend.

Have a look on www.tccoa.com , there are some articles there on the subject. If you like, give me call or send me a message, I'm pretty well-versed on this topic. On my 95 SC, I have done the Lincoln Mark 8 front upgrade (11.6" rotors), and this year I'm moving up to the Mustang Cobra 13" rotors with PBR 2-piston calipers.

cheers
