Ok, I've puzzled over this for a few days now, I'd like to mount an 8" JL subwoofer in the stock JBL box. I know the ring for the old sub has to go and the support on the bottom of the box needs to either be eliminated or shortened. When I hold the JL up to the position it should be in I see it will hit the ridge in front and in back of the stock sub mount - due to the way the box is moulded.
I am thinking of making an 8" mounting ring of plexiglass and epoxying it in place. I dont want the sub to hit the top of the box when it moves.
Is there and easier way to mount the sub in the stock box? has anyone just cut the top out of the stock box and dropped the sub in like subs are mounted in fabricated boxes? I'm trying to get it right the first time and still have a basically stock look. Besides - I need the trunk space - if I keep working on the SC, my wife may make me live in it!!!
Thanks,
