Are 255/45 too wide? Have you had fitment problems with this size or should I go with the staggerd sizing?

I run 255/45-17 on a 17x9 wheel on all four corners of my 95 LX. I've never had a problem with rubbing in front, and I like being able to rotate the tires. I have used 275/40s in back in the past, and I did have fender rubbing issues with that tire.

Sweet, that was the answer I was looking to see :D I am about to get 17x9 Cobra R's and Fuzion tires from Tirerack.com. I had never heard of them before last week but, they are made by Bridgestone/Firestone, and I have read almost 50 review from owners that gave just about nothing but praise, so I'll give them a shot. Only $105 a tire or 255/45WR17 Wear rating 320 A A
They are Ultra High Performance Summer Tires.

How much room do you have before the wheel would hit?

...anybody else?

Thanks,

Had 255-45-17 on all four wheels with 17 X 9 wheels and no problems rubbing until I lowered it. Then the rears would rub on bumps or with people in the back seat. Fixed that by adding air bags on both sides to keep the spring from compressing too far, but that tends to lift the rear about 1/2" which pushes the front down another 1/2"

Still looked good, here's some pics with the 255-45s at stock height and lowered.

When those wore out I went with 245-45-17s in front and 275-40-17s on back and think it looks a little more agressive now, and both tires are slightly larger diameter and closer to stock size than the first ones were.

what price is tire rack asking for those rims? customwheelsmarket.com says 195/ rim (17x9 Cobra R chrome) so $780 for the set without rubber.

Ben,

Here's a few pics I took this morning with 245-45s on front and 275-40s on back. Oh yeah that last one has nothing to do with tires, but it wanted it's picture taken too.

haha thanks man thats awesome. i think those pictures have finalized my decision on 17s. they look just fine, iw as worried they'd be too small. i needed more pics of hte angles you've given me so thanks for the hook up :D

I'm not gonna get the wheel from tire rack. Look in the specials/group buys forum. "Cudaz" has a post of his wheel company selling them for $170 each for the polished, w/ free shipping. They are Detriot Wheels- Cobra R replicas. I think I'm also gonna get the hubcentric package. His Chrome wheels are $190/ free shipping.

Thanks,
