when to add m112 or whipple

Ya, we've been over this ground before so there is nothing to argue about. I will say that I have never stated that a Whipple was superior to an AR or vice versa. Yes this argument was long drawn out previously and Brian did get involved, though not at my request. The discussion went on primarily at your request Damon, but the bottom line is that I've seen all the data from both the AR and Whipple testing and none of it has convinced me that either is superior. I've always maintained that stance and I've not felt the need to explain why I chose the AR. I just did.

If you look at my comments earlier in this thread I never once said anything negative about the Eaton. What I did say is that I believe that an AR will last as long as an Eaton under similar (normal) circumstances. I don't consider the luck of a couple screws making it through Eaton to be a testament to it's reliability. That would be like saying that Escorts are super safe and reliable cars because I rolled mine over and it landed on it's wheels and I kept driving, bet you can't do that with your F350/Vette/SC etc! The comparison is ridiculous.

Anyway, people are talking about these blowers like they already know what they are capable of or not. Truth is no one has any real idea. The M112 has not been tested yet, and the AR has very limited seat time. We have not tried to run the AR over 20psi yet, and we haven't run it over 18psi on a motor that has any real guts to it. Nor have we run it on race fuel or anything like that. In fact we haven't even run it yet with more than a 6 rib blower belt. I haven't made a big deal out of what the AR can or cannot do, the truth is that people are hungry for info and they are making their own conclusions. For now that is about all that can be said/done....

I have not been following this thread but,i CAN tell you that i did seize a m-90.It actually fused, the rotors got so hot that it fused and burned the belt off of the crank.I was quite embarrased by this when i discovered what i had done,i brought it to a meeting in the Ontario chapter to show others.Later i found out that the jack shaft pulley that i had made(5 years ago) was spinning the blower at about 21000 rpm.It was not funny when it happened on the highway at over 200 km/hr and the engine stalled and i had to get it to the curb from the passing lane.I am currently waiting to try my pulley out again in the near future but minus a few thousand rpm's. :)

I just have a simple question. On the AR and Whipple blowers on the rear bearings, do they have grease zerks?

No. I have seen some pictures like that though.

well Im not sure if starting a debate is a good thing or bad yet but its kinda cool. So if people would like to share what kinda dyno,et's or any other data they have and which blower they are running?

Other than that thanks for all the info and all Mike

There are a couple Whipple powered SC's out there but they are not allowed to post their dyno numbers in the member section or Top SC's list. Hopefully that will change soon.

Results from M112 testing should be available soon as well.

Seriously, I thought they were only NOT allowed to post numbers because no one really cared to. I know George is reading this....so what's the dilly?

I had read the post about about the challenge but i thought it was a joke or something because he said if anyone reallt wants to know just to pm him and chat about it. whats the harm in telling what something is capable of?

dyno numbers

It would be nice to have a posting of dyno numbers that are being achieved(with any of the projects), but unfortunitly from what I have seen it appears to start arguement and bad vibes.

In all reality thought it really adds excitement and interest to owning a car of this age and as we have all seen the open discussions does help continue the developments of the future innovations, it wasn't took long ago that 300hp seemed impossible.

Maybe in the future a web page could be added to the website with information on the projects and thier standings. Who knows ?
