I always strip one of the nuts taking them off.

Check the performance isle for Mr Gasket brand nuts #6717. They are hardened steel converter nuts... I think they are 3/8-24

I tried two advanced autos, one napa and one autozone and didnt find those Mr Gasket ones...ofcourse, they had torque converter BOLTS...but not the nuts.

FYI they are ford hardware # 378941-S441, got them today @ $1.27 a piece. Thanx once agian to Mr. Ed N (fast Ed) for the part number info.

They are 3/8-24 nuts. I have found the exact right ones at homedepot. They have the shoulder on them and the little cuts to stop them from backing off.
