Keep it or send it back (engine question)

So I ordered a New long block and the place I got it from charged me a core charge so in the long run would it be worth it to keep it or should I send it back like I'm suposed to?

Well how much would it cost you to ship the core to them? Or are they paying the shipping cost (unlikely). If it costs anywhere near what the core charge is to ship it then it probably isn't worth it unless you really need to get the engine out of there. Spare engines and transmissions lying around can be a real pain to deal with when it comes time to move.

I think your better off keeping it for spare parts, especially if you are responsible for shipping cost. The block, crank, cam, heads, intake manifold and oil pan can be sold for a lot more than $375

PS: At a 148K that motor was just getting broke in :)
