My bracket outing this weekend at NMRA race

Well wanted to run this race since I heard that they were coming to MIR. Heard my new setup might be to me in april, so I pulled the 2.0 off in prep for that. Then I forgot about this race. So it kinda snuck up on me. So I started putting the car back together tuesday may 1, worked on it wednesday til 2am thursday morning and thursday till 2am friday morning.

Thought I was doing good to get some sleep friday night. Was gonna pull the car out and wash the powder coat dust off of it then load it in the trailer so I would be ready to go sat morning. Went to go find the keys for the truck to move it from behind the bird and come to find out the wife had both sets in here purse and she was in Richmond 1.5 hrs from me. It started to rain so couldn't wash the car then anyway. So then I was on the road to go get the keys, she met me half way. Got back from that and put some diesel in the truck and picked up the trailer. Got to bed at 1am, so much for getting some sleep.

Woke up at 5:30 pulled the car out of the garage and rinsed the powder off and loaded it in the trailer. And off to the track we went.

Got to the track and paid for 2 days of bracket racing. Went to the fuel station and put 5 gallons of 110 in it to offset the 6 month old 103 in the tank. Got teched and tires aired down and went to make my first pass. Hit it off the line then babied it down the track to make sure everything was good. Think it ran an 11.83. Stopped by the trailer and checked tire pressure lowered it some more and went back up for a WOT pass to get an AFR reading. Nailed it off the line and all is running well AFR in the 11.0 range. Pick up my slip and ran a 11.36. Little pooey but it was kind of nasty in the morning.... to be continued.

Chris's car ran well all weekend. With the conditions and the headwind plus the fact of just getting it back and shaking off the rust he did great.

Sunday the conditions were a bit better and the car picked up. It sounded and ran great all weekend.

He had better luck than me for sure. I had pump issues all weekend along with driver issues so I didn't have a good weekend at all as far as running. Chris helped me find the fuel issue Sunday morning, we got that fixed then in first round of eliminations I launched hard, track hooked, lifted off and snapped BOTH halfshafts!

So much for automatics not breaking halfshafts!

Had a great time with Chris, R429460 from the TCCOA forum and Pop. The Marauder and the Mark VIII rocked in the car show.

Thank to everyone for their help getting my broke legged car back on the trailer.

Here are some Vids from the NMRA on Sunday. Check out the first round qualifier video. R429460 and mine are on there around the 5:50 - 6:15 min time frame.

Enjoy!!!!

Probably something that is going to end up sticking out of the hood.

Oh no I've said too much!

Yes, I saw you feasting your eyes on something on Sunday. I THINK you'd need just a bit more clearance but it should work well.

We also met one of Anthony and Sal's buddies from KY. Forgot his name but he had a silver GT500 with a 3.6 LC KB and wore a green jump suit for his racing suit.

Looks like you had fun. Hopefully everyone will make it to Fun Ford Weekend at VMP, I want to try that converter lockup deal you came up with and see if I can gain any time.

Chris

I thought the red letters really stood out. Made the car look darker & more sinister or something.

Regardless of that, I'm proud that one of us had a good weekend. You did a great job in brackets my friend!!!!!!!!

Sounds like a good time!!! McQuade was the fellas name you talked to up there. He drives that car all over Winchester and picks his kids up from school in it. Im thinking he has had that car down in the 9's and that was with rowing the boat!!!

What was your best time of the day???

Yeah he said he was in the 9's. And made it sound like he drove it often.

11.11 I think was my best of the weekend.
