Question Spinningwheels Rad

Hi,

Has anyone purchased/installed one of these:

http://spinningwheels-sc.com/newthun...or1994-95.aspx

The price is definitely right...thoughts?

Jim.

Hello Jim, nice to see you are still lurking around.

Price is pretty good, but you will have to swap over your turbo bracket....

Is that an auto rad or a manual rad? If I remember correctly you have an auto, you will need the trans cooler in the rad. That would be unless you have an after market trans cooler now. Will a double core be enough cooling? Probably, but I would prefer a bigger rad, but nothing else in that price range to compare with.

So, how are you and your SC? Its been a long time since we have seen each other. Any pics you want to post?

Late model rad. Fabricated by local member in Aluminum.Good to very good condition. No boot....$40.00

Not sure if this helps. It was posted a few mths ago.

Ryan had this rad in his car for a yr or 2 and I have never intalled.

It is std trans setup.

Hi Ryan,

Good to hear from ya! Long time no chat!

Dumb question: do I still need the "turbo bracket" even though I have a "Kenewagner" special double-intercooler?

I have an auto...but gave up on cooling the trannie with the rad...not a fan of that idea. Been running an aftermarket B&M Super-cooler for years.

Currently I have a triple core copper rad that was beaten up by my head gasket failure...and appears to have a couple small leaks. I'm tired of repairing this thing (repaired it a couple of times as my head gasket was failing). It cools just fine...just the leaking bothers me. Then I saw the price of the Aluminum rad on SpinningWheels. I've ordered stuff from those guys before with no issues.

As you know there isn't a lot of options with our cars...and anything bigger is three times the price. But does it cool three times better? Hmmmm...

No pics...not yet anyway.

Cheers,

Jim.

Hi Paul,

Just have a few questions regarding the rad:
  1. Does it come with the "turbo bracket"?
  2. How many rows in the rad?
  3. Is it a full soldered Aluminum rad?
  4. Do you know who built it?
  5. What guarantee do I get that it won't leak?

Guess these two are for Ryan:
  1. Why did you stop using the rad?
  2. How well did it cool?

Ryan, perhaps you can answer some of the questions above I've asked of Paul.

Thanks,

Jim.

This rad was out Kirk Bryan's 95 that I purchased off him. He had it build by shop out in Kitchener I think it was. All welded, no epoxy on the rad, if I can remember correctly. Cooled fine In that car when I got it back on the road. For the price, you can't beat it! Oh yeah, it's a double core. But I'm not sure if IC bracket was included when I sold it, just can't remember.

IC bracket is incorporated into frame.

As far a leaking I would have to rely on Ryans experience as I have never had water in it.

I think youl'l find I'm a pretty stand up guy though.

I don't sell anything knowingly if its junk.

I have pieces all over NA and some in Australia and haven't had a complaint yet.

Hi Paul,

I can't respond to your PM as you've reached your storage quota...you'll need to delete some old messages first.

Thanks,

Jim.

Yeah I ran it for about one season, Kirk Bryan had it in the same car for years prior to that.
