A group of us are already planning on running the entire Power Tour this year. Even if you can't make the whole trip, you could meet up at individual stops along the way.

Here's a link to Hot Rod's Power Tour FAQ pdf, for those who aren't familiar with the Power Tour. http://image.hotrod.com/f/39851736/2012+HOT+ROD+Power+Tour+FAQ+.pdf

Post up if you plan on attending any part of the Tour.

For those of you who are not familiar with a Hot Rod Power Tour, the link below is from the 2011 tour. This will give you an idea about what to expect. Remember, this is not the 2012 Tour.

So Neibert lied? He was supposed to go to Carlisle this year.:(
He didn't lie. He said he would go to Carlisle if Damon showed up to a Shootout, but he didn't say when. How many years was it before Damon showed up?:p

In all fairness, I don't think Neibert hasn't committed to the Power Tour yet.

Correct...I haven't committed to attending either event this year. I will be going to Carlisle because Damon came to the Shootout, just not sure it will be this year. At present I've got a serious work related conflict, that could prevent me from attending either event this year.

Just razzin ya's.:p

I would like to do the power tour one year. Should have done it the year they came closer to the east coast.

All stops have been announced. Stop number 5 will be the Gateway Motorsports Park (formerly Gateway International Raceway). Maybe they will let the long haul gang make a couple of laps on the oval like I did back when they had official cruises to the now defunct World Ford Challenges.

What happens?

Exactly what happens at each stop along the route? I went to the web site, but have no idea about what actually happens and what the "rules" are for going on the tour.

Working on talking the wife into it, but she would like more information during the stops at each place.

Also what hotels are folks registered at, would like to stay together as a group if we can swing this for this year.

Someone let me know some further details, so I can figure this out. Looking at trying to do the entire tour ourselves.

Smitty,

There is a car show at each spot with some type of manufacturers midway on the show field. I don't think there is any judging, or they don't look at our cars anyway. Each stop also usually has something unique to do. When I went in 2002, the participants were able to view the Speedway museum in Lincoln, NE prior to the public grand opening. There are also usually day stops for lunch hosted by different organizations or vendors that are along the route. Summit hosted lunch one that year.

If the tour drives through a small town, residents usually line the street and some impromptu burnouts might occur:rolleyes:

Dave can probably add more information since he has been part of several long haul Power Tours, whereas I have only been on one Long Haul, and a few individual stops from different years.

Last Years HRPT

I was looking at the highlights for last years power tour and it looks like a total blast.

I wish I would have thought more about it cause it came right through Nashville, TN, up from my old stomping grounds in Cocoa Beach, FL. Man that would have been fun too, but boy it would have been hot.

Now I have to decide of whether to bring my wifes 94 with PS, A/C and smoother ride or my 95 with more of a rough edge to it with no A/C, Manual Steering, and stiffer Suspension!

If Dawn decides to make it I think I will have to bring her SC, but will have to feel that out as we get closer.

I will ask again, has anyone made hotel reservations or decided what leg of the tour they are going to try and make if not attending the whole event?

This could be a lot of fun if we can get quite a few SC folks to join!!

Lets here your plans people.

I started looking at hotels yesterday, but haven't made any reservations. Generally speaking, I may skip the official host hotels (usually 1 or 2 per stop) and then look at a middle-of the road pricing on the remaining hotels. I will likely only stay at either Hilton or Marriott affiliated hotels so I can keep my rewards active.

I hate that it's the same weekend as Carlisle every year to start to Tour. But I try to hook up and tag along a few stops.

I'm not sure which car and how far I'll go this year, but I hope to join the Power Tour again this year.
