exhaust question...need some input!!

Hello everyone..I have a 94 auto that I'm about to get ready for the road again. It's mostly stock with a few mods..

3 or 5% od on the sc
inter cooler fan
live wires
cai
and it had a flowmaster exhaust with removed cats. it had a magna flow resonator out to two 40 series flowmaster mufflers. The resonator split all down the seam so obviously the car is pretty loud. my question is how would it work if I replaced the resonator with a y pipe??? Would this be too loud still. I would like to hear the sc more than the exhaust lol. the setup that is on it now the sc cannot be heard inside the car for the most part.. anyone running a set up like I want or very similar? How is it. thanks in advance

I once had kooks mid length headers and ran two 2.5 inch pipes into a y pipe out to a 3 inch pipe then back to a y pipe with 2 2.5 inch pipes that ran into 2 40 series flow master mufflers and it was deafening loud. There were no cats on that setup.

Stick with the resonator. The longer the better for keeping the exhaust note down.

Mine was mostly stock, just OD on the blower, and ended up with a FREE flowmaster cat back without the resonator. Frankly it sounded very "ricey". Blew the HGs and then stepped up to DD heads, cam and top end 94/5 blower ect. Will be changing the exhaust. Min put in a resonator, or a tru dual mandrel sys

I say delete the res and go straight pipe back into the magnaflows. I did that but with borla mufflers and my SC sounds amazing, but everyone has their own opinion

Y pipes on these cars no matter what mods you have make them raspy

true duals for loud exhaust and big resonator and mufflers out back for quieter sound

Yeah I was thinking of somthing more on the mid to high pitch scream sound rather than the rumble or rasp. I have 2.5 going int 3 all the way back splitting back to 2.5 into some Mac Flowpaths on mine now and it sounds pretty good. Dont know what it would sound like on an SC. Im sure the baffels in them and the Flowmasters are whats giving them that rasp sound. I would prolly switch them out for Mags.

Check out this thread with a bunch of videos from the 2010 shootout. It has many videos of cars at the track and on the dyno and filmed from the rear so you can really hear what everyones exhaust sounds like.
