New baby finally arrived
Hello everyone I am home, but only for a few minutes right now, heading back out the door and will be back home again in a few hours. I have some pics I'll post when I get back home, no time right now.
Here is the low down on what happened. Cheryl's water broke and the baby must have pooped first so that was why it was discolored. We got to the hospital and she had not yet had any labor pains but about 15 mins after we got there they started WOOT! They checked her out and finally got her into the birthing room within 30 mins. She ended up getting a really bad ear infection and she was complaining about that more then the labor pains, plus she is still sick and coughing, not the best of situations for having a baby. The contractions were making her ear hurt more and more but there was not much they could do. She asked for Demerol but they said she was too far along, she was already 3cm's dialated at the time so they said she could have an epideral. She was fine with that. Man the epideral was tough on me, very hard to watch, the contractions, along with ear pain and then the large needle in her back she was not a happy camper and it was tough to watch her in so much pain but afterwards she was much better. She still had a hard time with the delivery, the pressure was painful even though she was numb waste down. Good news is she only had to push for 15-20mins tops and hte baby was out, total labor time was only 5 1/2 hours so that was awesome. Meagan Elise Hiscoe was weighed in at 8lbs 11 ounces and came into the world at 12:38am Thursday January 13th, 2005 just after midnight. They took her about 15 minutes after she was born to the neo-natal center for examination and she has been there since, she is all hooked up to wires and oxygen right now, She is health but has a slight heart murmer, her heart is a little oversized and is putting pressure on her lungs which is giving her irratic breathing, she has been on intervenus so far and just started breast feeding tonight. They didn't want her stomach to fill up and put more pressure on her lungs at first. Its kind of nice cause my wife doesn't have to take care of her much right now, Cheryl is in a lot of discomfort, she is very swollen, it was only today she could actually start walking on her own. I am just home to get a few things and organise some things and tomorrow I'll be heading back up to the hospital, its 1 hour away. Like I said I'll post some pics later tonight, I got a great shot of the placenta, man it was huge, it was larger then normal due tot he chromosomal issues, looks like a giant roast about to go in the oven |

Let me be the first to say congratulations to you and your wife! Baby girls are great, and soooo easy to spoil.
Take it from a guy who has three girls, and is an authority on the subject! LOL! ![]()

Jamie,
Meagan looks adorable!!! I'm sure you and Cheryl have been busy since her birth, and that you've got a million more important things to deal with than being on this forum. ...But, if you get a chance, please let us know how she's doing at this point. I'm hoping she's off the oxygen, and that you've got her at home by now. How is your son (Little Sprout) doing through all of this? Best regards, Sean |
