Fixed Cruise Control on 89SC
I have read many, many posts on this topic as my cruise control did not work at all. I checked that the yellow tipped plunger, for lack of the correct term, moved freely if the brakes were pressed by sticking my finger between it and the pedal. What has never been clear to me is what position everything is supposed to be in to begin with. The yellow tip is surrounded by a black plastic shroud (2 piece?) that has lots of ribs on it. The shroud is held in place by a fixed piece of metal acting as a nut. I looked up there tonight as I was pressing the brake. All this was difficult considering my size. The brake pedal did not move the tip in very far, but I knew it could. The tip was sticking out at rest. So I pushed the shroud all the way forward. It was now in contact with the pedal. I figure that the first time I pressed my brakes, the pedal moved the shroud and tip back to the proper setting. When I released the pedal the tip alone was allowed to come out just the right amount. And the cruise now works.
