The danger of nitrous...

http://videos.streetfire.net/Player....1BD5FBDD33&p=0
It'll blow a hole in your engine. Sucks to be this guy.
For those who know, what happened??? Obviously his car isn't set up right but I'm guessing something had to go seriously wrong for it to blow like that.

A major nitrous backfire caused by fuel pooling in the intake probably didn’t hurt the innards of the motor like when you have too little fuel.

I would hang that piston up in my garage as a warning to the other ones.

Being the rocket scientist that I am I put a 150 wet nitrous shot on my car when I first got it.. All stock. It blew the bottom of the motor right out destroyed the crank one piston did a 180 in the bore and blew the head off. On the way down another rod twisted right in half blowing a huge whole in the pan. I know not real smart. It sure made a lot of noise when it went.

Was it a wet or dry kit Tim? Did you run colder plugs? Where was it injected at? Did you have the timing retarded while the nitrous was spraying? What was the bottle pressure?

I would think properly set up an SC could take a 150 hit. I know they can take a 75 and 100 hit on stock motors, but you have to set it up right.

I have a friend who likes nitrous.

Some years ago his brother wanted to race his El Camino that had some near-stock 350 in it. Well, dual Cheater systems will make a hero out of anything for a little while What happened was the nitrous didn't feed for some reason and all the fuel drowned the motor out at WOT. So my friend newbie brother fugures out the engine is flooded and floors it while cranking to clear the flood but forgets to disarm the nitrous.

They found the hood a couple hundred feet away.

Quite impressive really We didn't tear the 350 down but you could see the headgasket hanging out on both sides.

A bit later my friend buys a 96 Mustang pig and proceeds to throw something like a 150 wet shot at it. Four intakes later he decides that this isn't working and moves to the N.O.S. Noszle system. Three MORE intakes later he finally blows the engine up for real and after getting it run again (really shortened version of the story) decides to sell it to another friend who rips the nitrous off and puts a Vortech on it.

Then there's his race Mustang, that we just got running again, that had one piston dished in, two broken over the ring lands and a blown head gasket from when he had a brain fade and thought he had too much fuel pressure on the nitrous side.
