Hillbilly exhaust?

I recently got my exhaust redone with custom 2.25 downtubes off the manifolds, to 2.5 straight pipes into a borla resonator, to 2.25 straight pipes out the back into 2 RACTIVE 3.5 inch chrome tips. i really like how it sounds, personally i think it sounds like a little audi v8....

Lol.....Unkle SpARky said the tips look "hillbilly" and "Texas" like (uh oh Wynn! )

Heres some pics of the engine bay cleaned up a little, and then the exhaust.
Tell me what you think, and before you judge them, take a look at the video first .

and the video.....

Cut the tips and bend them down. That straight back pipe look only looks good on mustangs....where there is an upward curve of sorts in the @ss end.

Your car has a bigger bootie so the straight pipes just make the car look even piggier IMO.

Nonsense!!!!!! With the way the bumper cover is cut it looks fine other than you can see the pipe leading to the tailpipes. If that was more hidden and they were shortened. It would look good. I dont like the sound but that has nothing to do with his car. These cars just dont sound good without the right exhaust and cam.

Kick' em out from in front of the rear wheels or put them through the cover as burbanksc did. Would an LX look good with big hokey turndowns on it? Heel NO!

I'm gonna have to go with Sparky and 1FastSC on this one. Straight tips really don't fit the body lines of these cars, especially with the bumper cover all chopped up and the tips sticking out so far.

I like the look actually. What I would do though if it was my car would be take it back and have them shorten the pipes and re-weld it so that the tips were even with the bumper and not sticking out past it.

Did you make the FMIC yourself?

I think the bumper needs replaced and then hide the tips like factory.

Bill,

I think it looks pretty cheezy and sounds like azz. But if you like it, that's all that matters.

Turndowns with an SC rear bumper looks better IMO. I've got the straight pipe look, which I like but I'm also an LX If I had the SC rear, I would have done turndowns. It doesn't sound too bad, but it's hard to judge on the internet. That's better done in person.

But the important thing is whether you like it or not. That's all that matters since it's your car.

Sound is decent...looks...i would personally do what they all say, hide the tips or switch to an LX bumper (but dont...just change the tips).

I want to see how much difference the mufflers make. My 35th has the 'big dog' exhaust from SCP headers back (hf cats, resonator, muffs)...my 89 will have pretty much the same set up, headers, hf cats, resonator but straight pipes w/o muffs. The 35th has a pretty bad @ss rumble but a bit noisy when you get on it....the 89 should be noisier so we'll see. Im going to try it anyways. Hearing your car, it doesnt sound that much different.
