    Radiator replacement?

That's nothing. Check you cap for a worn, or swelled rubber seal. Check the overflow hose for looseness. You can cut 1/4" off, and push it back on. Is it wet, with green coolant, after a drive? How often do you add coolant? (Check cold, just above lower line).

Is the fluid level indicator necessary?

All three of my SC's have working VMM's. The powertrain in my white SC 5 spd, daily driver is leak free, except for just recently, the radiator. I had become lazy about checking fluids. The low coolant warning came on once, because of a minor leak at a oil cooler hose. Tightening the clamp fixed...

    Radiator replacement?

The IC bracket is soldered to the 89-93 style radiator. It will probably need a MAP gas torch, to remove it. You should take it to a radiator shop. I forgot to ask, how bad is your radiator leaking?

    Radiator replacement?

The aftermarket part number, is 128AA, for the 1989-93.SC. You will have to heat, and remove the IC bracket from your old radiator, and fit it to the new one. I have not done that yet. Measure the distance between the mounting points, on the old radiator, and record them. Hopefully, someone here...

Working CD or cassete player for 1990 SC

I hit the post too soon. Anyway, I pulled out the "Ford Electronic Sound Systems" operating guide, for both 1989, and 1990. looking at the 1990 guide, it shows the "Electronic Stereo Cassette Radio" , as having a volume Knob, and less features. Next is the "High-Level Audio System". This radio...

Working CD or cassete player for 1990 SC

I think my 1990 calls the preferred equipment package, 157A. I need to find its window sticker. Is the standard electronic cassette radio just have the volume knob, and the premium cassette radio, with premium audio, has the toggle lever for volume, and better speakers, and a 4 channel...

Working CD or cassete player for 1990 SC

I checked a few Marti reports, and saw a few "Premium AM/FM stereo/CD radio", on 1995,s. My 89 window sticker shows a cassette included with package 157. A premium luxury group, (I think that might be 1989 thing), that included, "high level audio AM/FM cassette", (later called premium audio)...

Working CD or cassete player for 1990 SC

When did a premium radio with a CD become available? 94,95? The "preferred equipment package 157", included a electronic AM/FM stereo W/cassette. There was a high level audio, or premium am/fm cassette. You order a separate CD player, and also a JBL audio. At least in 1989. Also, The premium...

Do you have one of these ?....

I wonder if these tags were put on by the dealer, or early production. Our transmissions have a synchronized reverse, so they don't grind, but can be blocked from going in. My procedure is the same with my SC, as I did with my T5 equipped Mustang GT. I bump it up against the sycro, or go all the...

Do you have one of these ?....

That was in the glove box of my white 89 SC. Also, service receipts, owners manual, original sales invoice, the tag for the shifter, that told you how to put into reverse, and window sticker. When new, the dealer did a "super seal" process. This was undercoating, including drilling holes in the...

    1989 Mercury Cougar XR7 5-speed

Pretty nice powertrain. The new owner can have a little fun with it. One thing I have noticed, is when I see these cars for sale, or just a under hood picture, most still have that Teves MKll brake unit. Doesn't matter if they have under 100K miles, or over 200K miles. Must not be that bad. All...

    Temp issues 90 SC

The coolant temp. sending units can vary in accuracy. My 90 would read low at the N, of normal, and the fans would come on. My white 89, has a "standard brand", replacement sender. It reads just to the right of straight up, "O", when the thermostat opens, but in traffic, it is at the "M", and...

Self test running, but Check Engine Light NO flashing at all - bulb OK

Pin 17 of the EEC connector is the Check Eng. light, and self test output. With the key on, grounding either one, should turn on the light. You can run the KOEO test, like in the diagram with a meter, of test light, If there is no flashing, you're EEC computer might be bad. The DCL+/- are for...

    Build Date Tag found

That's a thought, but I believe that date is close to the actual assembly date. I should just break down, and buy a Marti report. I would think the gas tank assembly build, would precede the car assembly, by at least a few weeks, but I don't know.

    Build Date Tag found

I found my build date on my white 1989 SC, a while back. The vin was assigned much earlier, as 100597. The engine build date is 02/06/89.

    Transmission Lines

When he put the trans in, did he tell you that the lines were messed up? How, and why, did the lines get cut off, like that? I would just pay him, to repair the lines, replace the belt, and make it right.
