Thanks SC-AL , makes me feel a tiny bit better .Spent over 7 G on it .The seller plainly said nothing about the rust problem underneath. When i asked him if there was rust he said there was a soft spot underneath ,but i all ready gave him the money. This was after i just got it transferred. So when i got home with the car i noticed something underneath was hanging down , so i look at it , and he had it taped up with plastic . So I read up on his profile on here and discovered all the problems that he had and he was looking for floor panels a year ago on here . All the pictures and info is on here. Didnt fix it then taped it up . I look underneath and man its bad . Failed to say anything about it . There is lots of other things wrong with the car as well . I was fooled by the pictures , the car looks good but up close the hole thing needs to be taking down to metal and repainted. Its been spray bombed . I couldn't put a jack underneath it , it would have blown out. I just dont have a hole lot of money to fix it .Also dont have the knowledge .Its really stress full , i love these cars . Im just stuck what to do .The floor and rockers is gunna need to be cut out , so im gunna have to find another car .There hard to come by . Plus im in Canada so its even harder . Im not Rich barley geting by and suporting my family . Sold my cougar a week before planing to upgrade .
Wow , that is for sure in the - not road worthy- and right into the dangerous category , if that is what its like in those areas there will be a lot more when you pull the whole carpet up ... I suggest checking the whole chassis at this point, the front door pillars down low can rust as well .
Its probably not what you are going to want to hear but one option is, maybe look for a clean body N/A chassis or even better a clean SC chassis car with a blown engine etc for a reasonable price and swap everything over , otherwise it is major surgery and skill level and time to restore that one properly , its not that it can not be fixed but it could be a lot more good money into bad at this point .
I just looked ,there is a 90 SC in Saskatchewan on Kijiji right now that the owner says is registered in BC [ so you would need to make sure that is not opening a can of worms for any reason ] , it says " says " , no rust , looks to be well optioned , IF the chassis is solid metal all around/under it would be much cheaper and probably a lot faster to swap into that car all the good parts from the one you have .
Having both cars side by side with all the tools and an Amish style barn raising help from other SC knowledgeable people an engine can easily be swapped in a weekend , all the other stuff is just tinkering and time but again with the right prep/people it probably could be swapped in another weekend or two.
It sucks to be stung like that , I recently found out what that is like , but maybe the guy will make it right with either a full refund and take it back or at least a partial refund [ which it looks like more than half would start to be close ] and you can look for a clean chassis to swap what is good .
But speaking of good, you may want to make sure that engine is in good shape as claimed as well .
Either way , good luck with it .
Dave.
