Billet sc oil cap covers

What are you guys using to hold this cover to the stock cap ? I was planning to use some high temp RTV, unless someone has a better method.

I anticipated needing some RTV, etc,. but the cap pressed right down nice and snug onto my stock cap so nicely that I don't see any need for anything at all to keep it there. YMMV.

I'm gonna run some RTV on mine but like K.M.T said the caps are already really snug and hold themselves in pretty well.

PS: Greg...please hang onto one of the polished SC caps just in case mine doesn't show up by Saturday.

I plan on using some ultra-black on mine, and I think that should hold it just fine. I don't know if it is just differences in manufacturing tolerances, but mine definitely did not have any friction with the cap at all, so I would prefer some kind of adhesive to make sure it doesn't go anywhere. If you never wanted it to come off again, you could epoxy it on there, but I think the RTV is the best method because sometimes the ratcheting mechanism inside the cap breaks, and with RTV it will be easy enough to pop the aluminum cap off, and install it on a new cap.

I finally got a nice day and got mine installed. It kind of makes the rest of my engine bay look like crap, but the piece definitely looks nice! Here's my pics.

Mike,

That looks pretty good with the lettering and outline in black. How did you do that ?
Here are a few pictures of mine.

Yup, just a black sharpie. I was planning on using a paint marker, but the black sharpie was close by, and it came out pretty good. If it doesn't hold up, I'll re-do it with the paint marker.

MadMikey- I felt the same way about my motor after i put the cap on, I ended up taking the top end off to chrome/powder coat some stuff. Now it turned into almost a full rebuild not to mention a drained bank account

:( still waiting on mine.....

Do you want me to ship the cap? I'm kind of confused. You emailed and called me about a bulk shipment. I was under the assumption to ship out the cap with your Door Sills. If I misunderstood I apologize, let me know I can get it out today.
