Cooling system upgrades and Intercooler fun!

Several months ago I decided to go to a full width radiator and mark 8 fan. My original plan was to add ac back to the car but at this point I just want to get it back running because everything worked really well beforehand. I also got to looking at everything u was going to have to change to make it all work again and I saw months turning into years so it's going back together without ac this time. I figure if I ever do another engine swap I will tackle it then. With the aging electronics of the v6 platform on this car I plan to eventually swap in a blown coyote motor.

For the current setup I went with an all aluminum 03 Cobra radiator, mark 8 fan and Hollister road company controller to handle the cooling. Thes setup requires an external expansion tank and some different plumbing but I think I have it figured out with an 11 mustang tank and cap. This should illeviate some of the burping issues we can have with the stock setup. Now that the intercooler tubes are welded and successfully re routed I can probably get it together this weekend and fire it up for the first time.

Intercooler is complete and the cooling system should be up and running this week!

Wow, that IC tube looks super close to the crank pulley. I recently had SCU redo mine to get the AC back on. Dave Dalke used a 1997 Full width Griffin and added a filler neck on the driver's side end tank, with stock 1997 fan. Cools great and easy to work on.

Mine can't be routed any other way Dave. The AJE suffrage creates more room but it also takes it away in places you need to run it. The intercooler pipe is close but it will be secured to the fan shroud so it not a concern and the fan should also help cool the aircharge some.

I dont know why but my pictures keep reorienting themselves.... there we go. I have some polishing to do but I wanted to make sure everything worked well before I did that lol. Fan kicks on when it hits 195 cools down perfect! I really like the new intercooler tube routing and I can't waute to get it out and drive it!

Well not driving my car for this long has definitely been interesting. When I first got the car back together I didn't tighten the clamp coming off of the water pump lol. Took the car for a drive to get some ice cream last night after filling it up the night before from another short drive. While driving somehow my 4" drives haft started rubbing my tank shield. I knew what it was because I've dealt with it before but then I heard my belt slipping? I get back to the house and heard some loud noises under the hood. Coolant everywhere again and I could hear it gurgling inside the new tank. Apparently the clamp on the upper hose was stripped and let coolant blow out when I got on it a little. Good thing I didn't lay into it too much and blow it completely off. Well once that was all discovered I walk back by the passenger rear tire and could clearly smell gas. Shaking my head I look under the car and there it is, a fuel leak. I put a hellcat fuel pump in and ditched the surge rank about a year and a half ago and when I did I Apparently clipped the seal. I fixed everything today with the help of my 4yo daughter. Her help was being good for me while I luckily muscled through it all .

I don't see how anybody fits a 4" driveshaft without ditching the stock fuel tank. I'm using a 3.5" from Denny's, which is same size I had in my turbocharged 93 SC.

I put a 4" because it was offered by dynamax for our cars. I wish I hadn't because mine was custom made with the t56
