Harmonic Balancer 1995 T Bird SC

Hello

I was cruising along and the car just died and I found my harmonic balancer was laying on the sway bar.

Does anyone know why this would happen? The center mounting bolt for the crankshaft was later found laying on my driveway along with the washer. It was a full on clean break for the bolt. The balancer however looked like it was broken for some time and the last inch and a half or so just broke off now.

Im now looking to buy a used harmonic balancer if anyone has one for sale.
Part number is BTC F4SE-DA94BS

Thanks to seeing your pics, I just ordered a balancer from SCP. I've been paranoid about it for a while because I've heard how often this happens. I don't want to wait for mine to break before I change it. I'm not sure why this is such a common issue with the SC.

Might be the OE balancer was off the shelf, and it's not happy with some of the shock loads the SC engine can see, especially when modded.

SuperCoupePerformance.com has options. I went with their economy balancer. Anything to avoid having my 27 year old balancer fail on me. There's no way I was going to spend the $700+ for the high-end part. The economy part will hold up for the way I drive.

This has happen to me, twice.
Were you asking about a master cylinder for brakes?
Curious how you got the broken piece and bolt off of the engines' crankshaft???

Is it possible that the dirt that collects on the seal creates a stress riser on the balancer? It seems to have broken right there. Even my low mileage balance had a bit of a groove at the seal.
