I have a 95 sc and it runs extremely hot like top of the gauge and guzzles gas

I drove with 3qtr tank about16 mile drive and back then a 21 mile drive there and back and it runs ultra hot on the highway top of the gauge so I take it as easy as I can on the way home and when I get in town I get pulled over and the temp drops in like 2-3 min and I’m back on my way but I look at my gas and it’s damn near empty I figured that’s kind of a lot of gas for a good 20 30 min drive it had low coolant when I bought it and a bad fuel pump I filled up coolant and put a new fuel pump in and she runs but still super freakin hot like not normal for sure. I Am going in the next couple days to get a thermostat but I highly doubt it’s that and also highly doubt it’s the fan I will check that too

Common issue with our cars is headgaskets and they don't have to smoke when thry blow get a combustion leak test and you can check it that way... Also check for bubbles in the coolant reservoir

Fel-pro head gaskets and just normal TTY head bolts will be fine
Sweet thankyou and I was doing some looking at it this morning and I see the fan is not working even on the m in norm and I checked again a little after and still no fan but could the fan even cause the needle to go to the top of hot and me have dick gas mileage

If anything running hot should use less fuel, not more.
if the temp dropped within 2-3 minutes after pulling over-(no air being pushed through rad)
that would lead me to believe the fan was working, or it was at that time?
Does the fan come on with A/C? maybe it was on that day & off next time?

Yeah it could have I just now checked it this morning I will check when I get home if it turns on with ac I was just gonna use a 12v drone battery to see if it spins but what could cause it to guzzle gas then

Too many possibilities for high fuel consumption to list here. Good place to start would be to check for any codes, although you never mentioned anything about the C.E.L. being on. O2 sensors, maf sensor, coolant temp or air intake temp sensor(s), fuel press regulator, leaking injectors, etc.

I don't think the 2 issues are related though. Not sure if plugged cat's would cause overheat & poor mileage?

I wouldn't be replacing any more parts until you read KOER & KOEO codes. Just my opinion though.
Also wouldn't be driving any more until overheat issue solved or you'll be into really big problems.

How do I read the codes if it won’t read on the orileys scanner I’m not familiar with koer or koeo what is that

I have a obd2 scanner but not obd1 or whatever it is it is a little different connector under the hood

I tried turning ac on and the fan turns on so that works like you said so I’m guessing it’s head gaskets and something else eating up all the gas

I took it to a shop for diagnostics and they said it’s so messed up they won’t work on it between all the electrical and ignition and all kinds of issues

I checked my thermostat it opens and closes good it’s 180degrees thermostat is that maybe too high the shop said I most likely don’t have a blown gasket because they let it sit and it didn’t get hot over 20-30 min the fan kicked on all that so I’m kind of stuck on what to do I’m gonna purchase the tester for head gaskets anyway but I still can’t find out why it’s getting hot like that so easy

Sounds like rad is plugged if it only heats up on highway.

Maybe its "all the electrical and the ignition and all kinds of issues" that they refused to work on
that's causing your poor mileage. 2 different issues.

I figured out the poor mileage is there a way to check the radiator I’m sure that’s a huge possibility
Purchase a OBD I reader they aren't that much money and we'll worth it
I scanned with obd1 and it does not read period I had the orileys guy do it and that might not sound right but this guy is a different breed when it comes to cars so I trust him I will look into it again forsure though

I would look 1st into getting it to scan for codes so try and figure out why you can't and repair that then see what codes exist

Will look into it is it common for the ignition to not work I just got it back and now it doesn’t turn off the key just spins and spins so I got a new cylinder and still spins and spins so I’m going to change the switch tomorrow
