M90 Coupling

Just picked this up from Advance Auto Parts. Dorman is selling couplers for the blower drive. Looks to be a nice dense piece of material. The pictures have it up against a coupler out of my latest mp3 build. It is heavier than my old one but it is bigger in diameter.

Part number is 917-022

If it is bigger, wont it actually hit the inside of the snout? Its been a while since i taken one apart, but it seems like the regular solid coupler was a hair away.

Its all good. The only thing it could hit is the hump where the front bolt comes down to secure the blower. And it clears that.

Dorman does not have much credibility with me. I appreciate that they make some hard-to-find parts ... but I have been disappointed in their quality more than once.

Now, this coupler is not rocket science ... so I guess it's worth a shot if it's cheaper than the other alternatives. But I am happy with the other alternatives as well, so I don't know if I would switch.

I agree with you on that, quality wise. As long as it isnt too brittle, and doesnt crack. good luck with it!

I'm kinda weary of it myself. Especially cause it has China printed on it. I think I will put the white one in my customers blower and test the Dorman myself.

spinningwheels sells that green coupler which is known good, if you dont want to have to have it in the back of your mind.

Chris,

I'm doing some reading on couplers, and I bumped into this thread. How did that Dorman unit perform on your setup?

Well IDK. If i put it on the MP3 the rotor pack gave up at 2 passes down the quarter mile. I looked at a blower here with my old rotors and there was a black coupler on it. I think I put it in a blower that went on a Marauder. I think it would be fine. If I remember right it had a nice tight fit.
