Hey everyone I am new to this and just got a 35th anniversary SC I haven’t got to drive it much due to power steering pump broke, and the brake pedal is hard as a rock to push and really doesn’t wanna stop… scary to drive even onto the trailer to get it home.

If anyone has advice on those 2 issues please let me know.

Sorry it’s also a 1990 with just over 83k
 
The power steering pump swap is straight forward, the braking issue not so bad either. These cars have common issues with the factory ABS and can be diagnosed and repaired or you can do the conventional conversion covered by many threads in the technical forum here.
 
I was told from seller that the master break cylinder needs to be replaced could this be true or is it more of abs problem… I don’t want to change out something if it’s not broke but also I’m no mechanic
 
You need a proper diagnostic by a shop or someone familiar with this system.
The ABS portion will not cause hard pedal (no assist). It may not even be anything to do with the master/booster assy. It could be power supply/grounds or the booster relay which is on other side of the car, fluid level switch, weak accumulator ,etc. Dont just start replacing parts based on what previous owner said.

Welcome! First thing to check on the ABS brakes is the relays and electrical connections - cheap & easy.

Brake issues are common on the earlier model.
Hard pedal is likely the relay or the pressure switch or the pump motor. All easy to identify with a little troubleshooting. Parts on the other hand are nearly impossible to find

Relays are on the passenger side firewall. If you need pics let me know. Try grabbing a Ford shop manual from eBay or maybe someone here. It will be money well spent!

This a 88 brake system, it shows where the motor and pressure switch are. It is the same on ours.
Assuming you have replace the abs relay already,
You can apply 12v directly to the motor. If starts then the brake pressure switch is your issue
 
That was the point I was trying to make-dont change the master/booster assy before doing some diagnostics.
Could just be a fusible link or relay or ECU. Lot of work swapping master & it still wont work or a you may end up with more issues then you started with-putting a used one on.
 
On the power steering issue I would check the motor mounts first. Commonly what happens, motor mounts fail, that intern allows the engine to crush the pressure line to the pump. Given the age id start there...if you can add fluid and watch it run out thats likely the issue.

It's not fun pulling that TEVES unit out. Your car doesn't have an individual master/booster it's basically one large hunk of garbage in my opinion I fought with mine for quite a long time a year or so pulled and put it back in 3-4 times and finally put a conventional brake system in. Mine would continually burn up the motor and you can't get a new one you can only have it rebut which is gonna cost about as much as the swap..
 
My three SC's all have the original Teves2 brake systems. Changing out the brake fluid, and replacing the accumulator, seems to work so far. If years of use, (or even sitting), without brake fluid flush outs, and accumulator replacements, then the master assembly may be beyond saving. Both my 89 5 speed drivers, have new Hydac accumulators.

Was Hydac the original manufacturer of the accumulator?
