What’s up everyone, names Shi or Lou. Hailing from sunny south Florida, owned a 96 T-Bird with the 4.6L in it about 10 years ago, sold it and bought a mustang (mistake) , got rid of that and got into chevys, but always loved the T-Bird, so I was lucky enough to come across a decent deal on a SC T-Bird 5 Spd which also came with a cervini ram air hood and cervini spoiler (I’ve already removed, welded over the holes and repaired the trunk) (spoiler is available for sale if anyone is interested), grabbed it and now the journey begins. Needs some love, but with time, patience, and a never ending budget, anything is possible. Mechanic by trade for about 15 years so I can handle all the wrench turning. I see lots of knowledge in this forum and will be trying to absorb as much as possible, thanks for reading, looking forward to being a part of the community.

Sharp looking car and welcome couple of things to check eight off the bat and thing you need to own
.. Evtm manual (look on ebay for specific year and model) an obdi reader to read codes. Check for wobble on your harmonic balance (known to fail if orginal and take out crank position sensor which is hard to obtain for early model Sc's not sure about later years). Yours appears to be a 93 or older.

Already posses and Obd1 reader, I’ll definitely look into the manual , harmonic balancer seems to be good, but what do you mean take out the crank sensor? Just for visual inspection? It is in fact a 93, 77k miles. Been sitting for awhile.

Welcome! The balancers like to come apart and when they do they wipe out the crank sensor. At least since it's a 93 you don't have to deal with the teves brake system, parts for those are becoming very hard to find. Do you know if the head gaskets have been replaced? That's another common issue. The dis can be an issue sometimes as well, always good to have a known good one as a backup. Motorcraft is the best option, but once again they are getting hard to find, aftermarket ones have been known not to work fight out of the box. Granted, if you have any issues, you have come to the right place. Lots of very knowledgeable people on here that have been keeping these cars going for 30+ years.

Oh ok I see what you’re saying about the crank sensor, I just misread. No idea about the head gaskets, but when/if they do decide to blow I’ll use that as an excuse to start building some power lol. Thanks for the input, greatly appreciated.

Yeah sorry I didn't make that easy to read. But yes that is what I meant balancer breaks which in turn destroys the crank sensor.
