Hello there everybody my name is Steve just picked up a 91 SC last night I've been lurking this forum for about a week now with anticipation to pick up the Sc last night.

well I'm down in Poway born and raised in Encinitas, tow truck driver for a local company over here. I do everything for them, I do AAA services ,towing and I also have a class A CDL.I Drive there semi rescuing broken down rvs, and semi trucks.as for pictures my phone doesn't want to cooperate with uploading photos. I'll try tonight when I get on the computer and see if I can't get a couple up .the Thunder chickens pretty rough, its running well but overdrive is burnt.I'm pretty sure with the noise the tranny is making the rest of its about to go. other than that its only got 93000 miles on it .motor seems to be running pretty well but the paint is awful I spent about 2 hours sanding it last night and have got a long way to go.the interior is in pretty decent shape, driver seat leather is blown out , the rest of its starting to crack and fade ,a little conditioner might do the job. all the electrical so far seems to be working. I noticed that odomiter is not turning I saw that there's a little plastic gear that likes to break on one of the threads so I think that's the issue .the windows rolled up and down ,all the lights work. sunroof works .starts right up sounds great till it starts warming up and then tranny has metal rattling sound that sounds like a heat shield about to fall off. it seems to be boosting pretty well .I got on it a couple times ,did some burnouts in front of my house. looks to be putting out about 12 pounds when you get on it. I'm no stranger to the toolbox but I will say that the motors pretty intimidating looking.

Welcome to the So-Cal Chapter!!!!! You have come to the right place to get information to help you keep you SC on the road. We all know how time consuming projects can be.
Look for other threads on the So-Cal chapter for wrenching meets and we can all help you get some work done on her. Looking forward to seeing you in the meets and helping you keep the SC alive on the road

Oh yeah, and see if you can share a pic of your SC with us

Getting the thunder chicken smoged right now, the kid doing it looks so confused every time he gets under the hood, he had to ask for help when he was putting a probe in there...... lol

As for pics, my phone won't let me? Idk, after I get done with dmv today will stop and take some time on the computer to get some up. She's pretty ruff, needs lots of love(money) soooo that being said I'm not sure how long she will be on the road, it sounds like I'm about to lose the tranny...... :-\ in idel she's making a vibrating metal sound, it sounds like a heat shield is lose, but I can't find anything, and it's really seeming like it's coming from the tranny. Any thoughts.

well then......~~~?

Ok so failed smog, my nox was to high at 15mph, but perfect at 30? Hmmm so took it over to my friends shop, thru it on the lift and wow what a mess. The whole exhaust is a garbled news, bunch of patches and shotty welds...... found that noise though! That's a plus. Took it out with my mechanic to check tranny. No overdrive : -\ shifts fine in drive but nothing there after 50 in overdrive. Looks like I've got that famous burnt band....... so now here's my ~~~, this morning tried to start it to go smog and it took 3 time gasing it to get it to stay running, also at the same time my antilock light was on and the break peddle was stiff, it wouldn't depress and I had no breaks, at ten same time I noticed the a.c. was not lit and would not turn on?! So I turn it of and restart it and it's fine a.c. kicks on break peddle depresses, antilock light go's off...... it's done this to me about 3 times today now, every time it's the same thing.won't start, finally does with help from the throttle, anti light on and break peddle won't move and no a.c., turn off and back on everything's fine?!?!?!? ~~~? I will say it did sit in storage for a year b 4 I bought it a few days ago and this is the first time I've had it out... what do you guys think.

SC'S are an awesome car. One with a lot of issues will cost a lot of money to get it right. You could be 10k away from being a 3k car. That's how it goes.
I bought a 89 with 29k on it only to find out that the new motor that was in it was built by someone who had no clue what they were doing. I bought a 94 that seemed great and out of nowhere the tranny goes.
I sold a 90 auto that I couldn't even sell for 2k on the forum and it was more reliable and dependable than both of my new SC's.
That's how it goes. The good news is that when you are done getting the car to a good mechanical state they will reward you with many miles and smiles. It just hurts the wallet. If you like to play with cars that seems to be the case. You pay to play.
God luck, find s good mechanic or do it yourself and when you are done you will be happy.

thanx for the warm welcome guys. the chickens been nothing but trouble today. lucky for me iv got a good mechanic and i drive a tow truck ;-) my mechanic got it to pass smog and I was able to get everything squared away at dmv. then on the way home started to lose first, barley got it back in the driveway. time to find an aod. theres gonna be so many kinks to work out due to it being improperly stored for a year thats ok , im in no rush, I knew when i bought it that its gonna take time. cant say im not bummed though, had fun driving it today before it started to act up. ok time for some pics

Cement trucks are easy to flip when the load in the drum is positioned to act as a counterweight...

The trick is to get the truck back on it's wheels before the load sets up :)

Welcome & good luck w/your SC.
