Passenger side seat does not move back?

Power seat that will not move backwards only. Seat moves fine forward, up, and down.

Anything I can do to troubleshoot this or is the motor dead? There does not seem to be any power at all when going backwards so feel it is not jammed or stuck.

I want to say it used to go slowly before it died but its been awhile.

Any ideas or help is appreciated.

Is there a source for replacement switches or a way to fix the current one? Havent looked at tearing it out yet.

I'm not aware of a source for new, at least not here in Canada. Just find a used panal with all switch's from a seat thats too beat up to sell as a complete unit.

I've had some success with disassembling the switch and adding some tension to the copper springs in the switch. You can also use contact cleaner when disassembled. Might be worth a try, just be patient.

With that said, I've had "repaired" switches that test fine for continuity on the bench, but still don't work when current is applied.

Is your seat most of the way forward now? The forward/back travel on all three of my SC's, barely work. My trick is to have the engine running, (for more voltage). Don't be sitting in the seat. And help it out by pushing it in the correct direction. To go back, I have sat in the seat, and pushed back, while working the control. Try it both ways. I'll stop after 10 seconds, or so, and let the motor cool a bit. Do the courtesy lights dim, when you try and go back?

The switch is your issue if it works in 1 direction only.
Not necessarily so.. I had that situation on my 95LX. I pulled the seat and tested the function in all directions with the switch removed from the circuit. I ended up having to replace the motor assembly. Not saying it's not the switch, but a little more trouble shooting might save time and unnecessary expense later..
I believe I got the motor from Partsgeek.com. When I got it all back together it worked good, but some of the directional functions are now backward on the switch. The same part # was listed for other cars as well, such as the Taurus, Crown Vic.. I could swap the wires, but it's not a big deal to me to simply push the switch in the other direction.

My drivers side seat is doing this. I took the swtich out, cleaned it and made the contacts touch better. Worked three times and failed again. I ordered a new one from eBay for $28. Havent installed it yet but the car is currently in "preventive rust" storage. Brine on winter roads here is nasty. My '16 Silverado has already had the rockers replaced.
