Rpm is running at 2700

I’m having a high idle problem that I can’t seem to reason out. Car idles high at 2700 rpms and won’t come down to normal. Even when driving, it will want to stay up there. Anyone have a similar experience or solution?

Have you replaced anything prior to high idle? Check for vacuum leaks I believe they can do that

Most likely either a stuck IAC, or a massive vacuum leak. If you have no other drivability issues and it just started all of a sudden, I would start with the IAC. Try tapping on it lightly with a hammer to see if it frees up and resolves, or pull it off and block off the ports to see what happens. With the ports blocked off, it should idle really low or possibly need you to feather the gas to keep it running. If it still idles high with the IAC blocked off, then it has to be a large vacuum leak.

Now that you say that. It makes good sense. I thank you so much

The easiest, and quick way to test the IAC, is to unplug it. With a warm engine, the RPM's should drop below normal idle speed, or even stall. If the rpm's stay high, then a vacuum leak, or stuck IAC. Simple as that.
I’m going to give that a try tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks a lot.
